By A Steven bouchard I started with book one, but believe this 5th book could be a stand alone book. However, I seriously suggest the potential reader start from book one. All of these books have been FANTASTIC!! There is so much excitement, realism, researched tactical maneuvers, researched "everything else", high writing skill, understanding of consistent character personalities (the reader will fall in love with the characters and scenarios), and it's always great the way the author starts a chapter with the given characters name.All of this author's books are page-turners! All of the books are about 400 pages and so reasonably priced! The author does NOT write a book and then cut it in parts and sell the "parts." This seems to be a "trend" with many other writers. This author is genuine in what she writes, the quality and quantity and first class style! As I do with all the books, I read I peruse all comments. I've noted that the negative reviewers seem to have a extreme liberal political agenda. (Go figure! - I google a lot). Anyway, I think it's safe to say the potential reader should take the negative comments with a grain of salt.This book, in particular, seems to be the author at her finest! Though I think I thought that at her every book. I'm a reader-aholic and this author has become my most favorite. The books also cross many genres. The manner in which she puts everything together astonishes me. I'm convinced she is completely genuine in writing good books for the purpose of writing good books and NOT to "make a buck! In fact, I don't understand why film makers haven't yet discovered her work! Frankly, I'd someday like to meet the author and get her autograph. Kind of silly coming from me but she's THAT GOOD!If the potential reader starts from the first book, the reader will be completely fascinated by the content of the first book and what happens in this fifth book! She knocked my socks off with some surprises! Keep writing, Ms. Morris, keep writing!! And, THANK YOU for your quality, fine research, quantity, excellence in mastering stories and including believable events!! I'd truly like to meet you someday and pick your brain to try and figure how you are able to write so well. Uh,.... for an autograph, too.I forgot to mention, one of the fake "reviewers" even mentioned Sarah Palin! None of these books deal with Sarah Palin, ANY current politicians and there isn't ANY "political" stuff in these books. I am of the opinion that their sole desire is to destroy the author's reputation. Hmm. Sounds like a libel suit could be on the horizon!!

Lovely story but it just ends with no resolution By Amazon Customer The book picks up right from where the last one ended with no rehash so it took a few moments to pick up the threads of the story. But the biggest disappointment was after slowly and thoughtfully building the story it just stops. No threads are completed and new ones have just ben added and the story just stopsSimon and Sam; Cory and Paige; Reagan and John; the townspeople split; Roberts arrival; the radio message - not one story line is wrapped up. I love series as much as the next person but an author doesn't get a free pass on actually finishing the book. I thought I paid for a complete story.

Best of all for my reading pleasure there are no deaths that donot carry the story. Not the=at they are not heart breaking just the deaths that happen are not just so the story can be bloody like many of these type books do. The only complaint I have is I work at Vanderbilt Hospital and the entire complex is connected by underground tunnels. I'd have like to have read the characters adventures exploring the bowels of the hospitals separate building to the research center and the university. And a note that the trauma unit is on 11 north or to the right facing the building and there is a garage attached by an over the road walkway to the fourth floor. Surgery is on 2. Otherwise Nashville General is spot on.A great read. And if you are new start with one and read your way forward. I promise you will not be disappointed.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. An interesting storyline By Stephanie A good story line but several of the chapters/plot line could have been fleshed out a bit more. I would have also liked a bit more information about the different totems as well. Also, some of the transitions are rough and it feels as if its of information are left out. The editing and overall writing quality are better in this book than the first. Both this one and the previous book ended on a decent cliffhanger, I'm looking forward to the next installment.

By Amazon Customer First time I read the book I felt there were parts missing but still was a nice continuation of the first book. Now that the upload error has been fixed and the complete version is up the story makes so much better sense. I had to read the entire book again because the parts that were left off in error are all over the book. Reading with the error fixed the story is so much more fleshed out. Looking forward to reading the next one.

By ASavi I LOVED the Allie Beckstrom series as well as the spin-off featuring Shame and Terric, Soul Complements of Death and Life magic. I thought the story was finished with Stone Cold ... so I was pleasantly surprised when I read the news that Devon Monk releasing a new Shame and Terric novel independently.BACK LASH is still written solely from Shame's perspective. We found out that he has shared his house living together with Terric and Terric's boyfriend, Dash. Shame and Terric are the only people who can still has and use magic after both of them (with the help of Cody) has put an end to access of magic. Shame is still feeding his Death magic by killing people from Victor's list while Terric does his by volunteering down at the cancer ward and hospitals. But then they found dead bodies with sign of murder by magic. And not only that, Terric's younger sister Jolie came to Portland for protection, after she hacks Russian mob's account and steal a LOT of their money to be given to charities.I highly enjoyed this new adventure of Shame and Terric. It was really intriguing how people could still find a back door to channeling and use magic, which resulted on those murders. I liked the twist that Monk given, because there were actually two parties involved with the victims that were killed and how they were killed. I enjoyed the process of Shame and Terric trying to find out who they were.I also liked the addition of Jolie. She is smart and gutsy. She is a Conley after all. It is darn time that Shame meets a girl that could deal with him and his 'darkness'. Plus she's Terric's sister ... it will be delicious to think about. It will annoy the hell out of Terric, but at the same time Shame can't purposely mess around her either, not that Jolie can't take care of herself, of course.Anyway, shall this series continue, I would've really liked it if Jolie continues to be part of the gang. Someone needs to be there for Shame like Dash does with Terric. On the latter note, I was happy that Terric and Dash are pretty solid. They have their fight early on but in the end everything is good with them.There's a sneak peak of Monk's next book as a bonus. Devon Monk is one of my favorite urban fantasy authors and considering that she BLOWS me away with her House Immortal series, I cannot wait for this new series to hit the shelf as well.

By Gundy03130 It's Terric and Shame, need I say more?Ok for those who need a more serious review, here it is (I try not to write spoilers if possible):Life and death magic, sarcasm, Russian mob, family showing up out of the blue, old friends, guns, magic wands = Trouble. Shame and Terric are the only magic user's left in the world, or so they thought. Navigating through life with magical complications while saving Terric's sister, Jolie, from the mess she got herself into proves to be challenging.This can be a stand alone book, however, I recommend reading the first two books of Shame and Terric's (Hell Bent & Stone Cold). Better yet, I'd recommend reading the Allie Beckstrom series and then moving to Shame and Terric, who are a branch off the original series. Either way, you SHOULD read this book. If you are fans of Ilona Andrews, Patricia Briggs, or anything magic, you will love Shame and Terric!My only complaint is I want more books in the Shame and Terric world! (I'm going through withdrawal)A small note (to all you formatting/grammar/conversion police): This is her first book published directly to digital. With that being said, sometimes formatting can cause some issues. 9 of 9 people found the following review helpful. DESPICABLE THEM By Philip Bailey Despicable would not be strong enough. I ran the gamut of negative emotions, outrage, disgust, sorrow. To use every day descriptive vernacular would invite censoring. Through the years I have often heard news of the shrinking rain forests around the world. I attributed it to the increasing world population. I also heard briefs on Palm Oil Plantations and envisioned farms as one might see in the bread baskets of the world. If half of the stories in Money Logging are true, the desecration of our planet by these criminals far exceed disasters such as the Exxon Valdez oil spill or the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010. Imagine if you can Eden, where the indigenous people live entirely on the bounty of the rain forest. No need to raise crops or farms of livestock for consumption. Try to envision the spectacular species of flowers, birds, butterflies and other exotic gifts of nature. Now read Money Logging and find how graft, corruption, greed and every despicable human characteristic known to exist has been and is destroying these very natural resources. Day to day warnings of global warming, stories of droughts, floods, mudslides and other so called natural disasters can likely be traced in part to the destruction of these rain forests. Unknown and perhaps gone are the plants waiting for discovery that may produce medical cures. Gone are the trees known to remove carbon dioxide and other toxins. And can it be genocide when an indigenous population is deprived of their ability to obtain sustenance? Maybe not genocide by definition but perhaps extermination by deprivation. All this for the quest for power and wealth of a few of the world’s bad characters, many of whom are of an extended family. These people make recent dictators of the Middle East seem like good Samaritans. The lot of them should be exiled to a snake infested Island so they can live out the rest of their lives with their resident relatives. This book should be mandatory reading for every literate being in the affected countries.

Excellent and well-researched book By rich harvell This excellent and important book is a great introduction to the terrible environmental and financial crimes that have happened on Borneo over the last fifty years. It is an exciting read--starting with the thrilling story of a whistleblower--and helped me understand the link between corruption and destruction of natural resources, not only in Asia, but around the world.

Abe has more in mind _but even more than he understood was about happen. Cass loves his father immediately and they hit it off. She is nervous to meet the clan but seems to be accepted and likes those she meets.She loves the country, even if she is distracted by some bad news from home. However, she turns it over to the professionals to handle and does her best to enjoy their time. Ben has a big surprise that shows his feelings and Cass is delighted. So much is happening. But she's not done yet. While Ben is with friends, his father takes her home to wait for him and his surprise may just be too much.Can they handle it all so soon or will it end them? We'll have to wait for part five. I will have to work on my patience.I have also listened to the book on audio and really like my "bedtime story." Newly heard or listening after reading, I have become such a fan and this book comes to life while lay back and listen. Enjoy both, you can read and listen or either one with the audible version. Enjoy--I have. them?

Cassidy is welcomed to the bear clan and most importantly Abe's family. And then.. Have to read further. This series is wonderful. This is Book 4 and I am going to have a hard time waiting for number 5!!!! I received a complementary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

By Cynthia Terrones SSgt/USMC WOW, what a great ending to a great series. There were so many times I wanted to take a peek at the end of the book, that for me started around Chapter 18, 19 or so. The once I was into Chapter 25, it was so hard not go to even the last paragraph. This book definitely kept you guessing was the heck was happening, could anything be real in a place like that. It did end super and I'm sorry to see that happen. Though I'm told many times by a couple friends, the stories can't go on forever. I sometimes say "why not"?. There are certain books out there you spend so much time with the characters, they almost become family, Marie was one of those. She made you want to be her sister or best friend and be there for her, just to help her so much. Such a strong woman, and all she went through. This is one Series thats worth reading. But start with, New Reality 1 and New Reality 2, those are a must, as NR3 starts it all off, in a big way. ALSO don't forget Michael's "Alpha Plague Series" that one is a home run and then his "Crash Series" If you don't read his books, you won't know what you missing, which is alot. This is one super Author, and a super friend.k

I wanted so badly to go to the end to see if what I guessed was right, but I didnt. And I am glad I didnt. This outing was seriously creepy. In a good way. I love Marie, she is such a strong, caring woman. Never let the darkness take over. And I wouldn't have blamed her for standing down and going with the flow.I say buy the whole series ( actually the first book is free ). Holidays are coming up so these would be a great gift to yourself or to a friend. I will miss this series. But Michael has so many other offerings. Check them out too. I wish I could give more than 5 stars.

She got sad, cried, & then dusted herself off and got back to life with a minimum of a pity party. This type of woman feels more like real life; we storm off angry bc our feelings are hurt, then when alone we breakdown and after a bit of self pity, we get back to life bc who has time to languish in our own head too long before life comes calling. Good work from Eve Langlais as usual.

Mccullers This is a different vampire story as it revolves around a woman vampire who is violent, bloodthirsty and self centered. Its hard to like her as she is portrayed as being uncaring (mostly) and egotistical. The author claims to have used comedic situations in the story, buy I don't think so, although she used alot of violent speech. I wouldn't recommend this story as I felt it lacked substance and was too predictable.

Really interesting vampire story By Mary Kirkland Vampires are facing a war and they need to come out of hiding and let the world know they are real because in the upcoming war, everyone from human to shifter is going to need to fight.When the world finds out that vampires are real the vampire queen tells Ellie, aka Countess Elizabeth Bathory that she is to submit to the human doctor for tests. This is to make the humans feel better and let them get to know the vampires a little better and for some to prove that vampires are really real.What Ellie doesn't count on is the fact that doctor Raphael makes her undead heart go pitter patter and she can't seem to get him out of her mind or get into his. Even though Ellie is smitten with Raphael, she knows that it can go nowhere as having sex with er would kill him and she doesn't want that.Raphael comes off as very disinterested in Ellie as a woman at first. He seems every bit the nerdy doctor that he seems to be. But we get glimpses of something more, that maybe he isn't exactly what he's trying so hard to make her believe he is. He is a mystery and it was fun reading her reactions to him and the big twist that reveals itself.This is a different kind of vampire story. Vampires and humans can't have sex because vampires are toxic to humans and they die. And Ellie is a blood thirsty vampire. We find out that Ellie, aka Countess Elizabeth Bathory got her blood thirsty reputation only after she had been turned into a vampire and newly turned vampires are blood thirsty creatures if left unchecked. Since her sire was killed before he could really explain how to be a vampire, she had to find a way to go on herself and she went a bit over board.Since most of this story is told from Ellie's point of view, we really get to see what she's thinking and while she might not be bathing in the blood of virgin's any longer, she still see's humans as food and she has a temper. But she's a good soldier and does what she's told for the most part.This was a good vampire story filled with blood thirsty vampires, a nerdy doctor, an interesting love story and a great twist.

She has an easy to read writing style with great description which helps to turn the pages. When she let me know that she had started a new series, I was excited to start reading.Vampires and murder seem to go hand in hand, but then add a motorcycle gang named the Blood Lust Brothers, and you know you’ve got trouble. In Bad Boy, Vampires are main stream and live among the humans. They even have their own “blood bars” so they can grab a shot with their friends, and not harm any humans while enjoying a night out. Isn’t that convenient?When Liam’s father is murdered, he soon inherits the responsibilities of his family, the motorcycle shop, the motorcycle club, and the investigation into who or what killed his father.Bad Boy is the first book in the Titanium Blood Series, and the ending left you anxious to read the next book. The language is mild (24 f-words), the sex is not graphic, there is some violence, but it’s written without the gore. Vampires are a hot genre right now, and I look forward to seeing how Charlotte Raine expands the series and story line. I received a copy of this book from the author, in exchange for an honest review.

I found my self engrossed in the story and wanting more. Be aware this is an ongoing series. The lead character is definitely a bad boy!

Promising start of a series not only for paranormal romance fans By Amazon Customer Blood Family introduces the readers first to Judas - biker, father, vampire. His assassination leads to major tension among his offspring; his son Liam takes over, trying to find his father's killer. Taking turns, the main characters tell us their take on the past, present and future. It is a fast paced read with a pleasant flow.With Blood Family, Charlotte Raine has created the intriguing first part of the Titanium Blood Series. Blood Family is a well-balanced paranormal romance read with interesting characters; some of them are likeable, some mysterious. The author slowly reveals more, making me want to immediately proceed with the second instalment. I was drawn into the story, relatively close to Liam and his sister Sage. It is refreshing that it is not vampire vs. human. Blood Family is a good read for paranormal romance fans, who prefer shorter series reads with a thrill.This is a very pleasant read, the promising start of a series with a different take on the human/vampire topic.

I didn't like that it took a little while to get to the prayer, and sometimes Emma's communication with the reader was distracting (when she asks the reader a question and gives a response to your answer). That could've been left out. The illustrations are also not my favorite. They are just a little ... odd.In teaching very young children about the Lord's Prayer, though, this book does a good job. 3.5 starsI received a complimentary ebook in exchange for my honest opinion.

It is never too early to get children into the Word and never too early for them to commit it to memory.The book begins with a child named Emma calling you in for a playdate. You visit her room, you meet her teddy bear, you eat lunch, and then, finally, you learn about the Lord’s Prayer. Emma then takes you line by line through the prayer, explaining it as it goes. You then retreat to Emma’s room to teach the prayer to her teddy bear.I felt like the book was a little slow to start. It’s not until halfway through the book that the Lord’s Prayer is actually introduced. The purpose, I’m sure was to build the context for the prayer and to insert Emma as a Dora-the-Explorer-esque interactive character. Emma talks directly to the reader/listener and asks questions. This is all well and good, but, in my humble opinion, could have been condensed some.I do very much appreciate that the prayer is broken down line by line with an explanation of each concept. The goal of Scripture memorization should never be rote recitation but active understanding of the text. I wish that it would have gone further with this, taking time to explain the “big words” of the prayer. What does “hallowed” mean? Or a “debtor”? Or “temptation”? Be sure to your child understands what he or she is saying. That’s much more important than getting the exact words right.The book (and presumably the series) utilizes the English Standard Version (ESV), which is an “essentially literal” translation of Scripture. The ESV, on average, reads at an 8th grade level, which is why you see some of the “big” words in the prayer. For those unfamiliar (or take issue with) the ESV, the Lord’s Prayer is essentially the same in the more popular NIV. The only difference is the use of “this day” instead of “today” and “deliver us from evil” instead of “deliver us from the evil one.”Let’s Learn about the Lord’s Prayer also chose to include the addendum “For yours is the Kingdom, the power…etc.” This closing phrase has been removed from more recent translations (including the ESV and NIV) because it is not found in the earliest Greek manuscripts. Of course, this does not make the book unscriptural or wrong by including the phrase. I only make note of it in case you, as a parent, are following along in your own Bible—that phrase is not likely to be there.Overall, I get excited about teaching kids the Bible and I get excited about kids reading books and I get excited about Scripture. That makes me triply excited about this book. The key to memorization is repetition, repetition, repetition. Use this book as a launching pad to develop a system of teaching memory verses to your children. Train them up in the way they should go and, when they get old, it will not depart from them!

I remember my mother reading to me as a small child, and I wanted that same special time each night with my own children. The main character is a 4 year old girl named Emma, who speaks right to the child as she teaches them the Lord's Payer and what it means.Let's Learn About The Lords Prayer is actually the first book in the HeartSmart series which was developed to teach children scripture in fun and engaging ways, allowing them to open their heart to God from a young age. What is unique about this series is that it pairs the scripture with song, so you can deliver the entertainment on another level too! The author, Catherine DeVries has written 20 books for children, so she is no newbie when it comes to pleasing their little ears and eyes. She is an associate publisher of Children's Resources at David C Cook, where she leads product development for The Action Bible collection, which has sold over a million copies! She lives with her husband, their three children and their large furry dog in the Colorado Mountains.My 3 year old daughter has been LOVING this book. Each night, without fail she requests that we read this book. She always answers the questions that "Emma" asks, and has been very successful at learning the Lord's Prayer. She just started preschool earlier this month where they are learning The Lord's Prayer, so this book helps us to practice a home what she is also learning in school. I cannot forget to mention the illustrations too. I feel that they are perfect for this title, and very engaging for the young children. The book itself is like a board book so it much sturdier than other books we have - this was smart thinking!I received this item complimentary for the purpose of an unbiased review.

If you are only networking, you're not doing all you can By Rick Swanson As someone who has struggled with starting up new small businesses, I’ve spent a lot of time reading books and blogs about the importance of networking and finding leads. Soma Datta’s book, “Fearless Follow-up” stands apart, because she goes beyond merely finding leads and takes you down the path to conversion. She rightfully identifies that fear is an obstacle for many of us, and then provides a clear and concrete path out of the fear. I expected the book to be something of a thought exercise, but it’s much more practical than that, which both surprised me and pleased me. Don’t relegate this book to the shelf. It belongs on your desk, open, where you can see it every day, scribble in it, and let it prompt you to take action and follow-up fearlessly.

Her sisters wore the latest fashions, styled their hair, and applied makeup. Rebecca integrates all the early experiences of shape, color, texture and mood with a great deal of passion while creating beauty and collaborating with other like-minded artists.
