He’s always doing his best to protect all the other kings, while they all find their mates, or just cause trouble. Love, love, love Rhi, and don’t think we’ll ever find out who her dragon lover was. AND, as always, trying to figure out if Ulrik is good or evil.I love Thorn and Lexi, (as well as Darius.) LOL, and it’s nothing for the two of them to kill 80 or 100 Dark Fae a night, while doing all they can to protect the humans and keep themselves hidden from the humans.Part 2 I’m not so sure about Ulrik (even though he said Con would have to die for what he did) but I KNOW I hate his uncle Mikkel. What a total self-centered, murderous ass he is. I can’t wait for him to die. I also hate Balladyn and Taraeth. I’d like to say I wish the dragons would crush them all but then the war would be over and that’s half the fun of reading these books. Besides, the Kings get such joy out of killing the Dark a hundred at a time. Can’t take their fun away from them.Part 3I’m getting more and more upset with Rhi. If she’s going to turn dark I’ll have to be done with this series. And I’m leaning towards Ulrik being evil. His thoughts are just not sounding like a good guy. I wish Rhi had killed him when she had him on the floor.Anyway, the story got better and better and I couldn’t wait to get to part 4 after what happened in the shop at Draegan. It was exciting and terrible at the same time.Part 4When the 4th book came to an end I was sooo miserable. It did tell Thorn and Lexi’s story but, as usual, it left so many unanswered questions. I can hardly wait to read more about the Reapers, about Cael and Daire. That was some kind of ending between Darius and Sophie. Whew!

This book was generously provided to me in exchange for an honest review by NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press, and by Donna Grant. On this final installment of this four part series, there is so much going on. Lexi is taken. Thorn is beside himself trying to find a way to get her back. He hasn’t even told her how he feels. He vowed to keep her safe but it’s so much more than that now. He has to get her back. Everyone involved seems to have motives behind their actions.“You should’ve run faster, Lexi. You should’ve stayed far away from the Dark. But most of all, you should never have fallen for your Dragon King. It’ll only bring you misery and death. Humans and Kings were never meant to mix.”I especially felt for Rhi. She still feels bound to the dragon king that doesn’t want her. Balladyn is in love with her and wants her. He will do anything for her. But he is dark fey. Would Rhi also go dark if she gave in to the attraction she feels for him? All she really wants is to be wanted, to feel that connection. In the end, though, it seems like its always Rhi that saves the day. She is everywhere, teleporting, fighting. The dragons have been exposed to humanity. What does this mean for their future? Who was the shadowed man in the castle where Lexi was being held? Is Balladyn truly dark or will his love of Rhi bring light into his soul? So much is going on, so many battles both being fought and to be fought. What an action packed ending to this book with the promise of so much more in future books.“She made him weak and strong, vulnerable and fierce all at the same time.”

Passion Ignites p4 By Evampire The Dark have made a very strategic move against the Kings and Lexi’s been taken but in order save her, he will have to risk the fate of his kind and his own life in this spectacular conclusion to the Passion Ignites serial.Chaos reigns and the Kings are fighting on every front with lots of adrenaline pumping excitement, intriguing thrills and unexpected twists that keeps the reader on their toes. These strong, compelling characters have commanded attention from the very beginning and the well written, fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps tension building throughout the story with suspense, excitement, romance and emotional turmoil that grips the heart.I was blown away by the conclusion to Lexi and Thorn’s story and I have to say the war is heating up and causing lots of mayhem and I am looking forward to reading the next story in the Dark World.

Artist William W. Steidel has brought some of his fantasy paintings to life, with the telling of the story behind them, in "Whose Move," his beautifully illustrated children's book. Each fall after harvest, the dragon would storm into the village of Falorn. The people would hide in fear as the beast ransacked the town, eating anything and everything in sight—corn, wheat, flower boxes, and wagon wheels—and breathed fire and smoke as it thundered through the streets. The poor people were always left with nothing but scraps to live on, and more damage to repair. This continued year after year after year, until one day, a young, homeless orphan boy named Timothy confronted the dragon, and everything changed.

Whose Move, by Willam W. Steidel

About the Author In the window of a small, rustic gallery on the corner of First and Hemlock Street in the village of Cannon Beach, Oregon, the artist, William Steidel can often be found. He sits behind a simple but ingenious swing-out easel, surrounded by a hodgepodge of artistic tools and paraphernalia. Here Bill produces his particular brand of magic. He creates works of art, spins yarns, makes music, watches the passing parade of people, and delights in the view of the lush green mountains that lie in the distance. The passions of artistic philosophy emerged very early in Bill’s life on a small farm in Newburgh, New York. His work has progressed through the years from his time spent as a student at Columbia University, Pratt Institute, Northern Arizona University, and the University of Oregon, to his ensuing life experiences. Bill’s journey inspired him to open his first independent gallery and studio in Cannon Beach in the 1950s. Inside the present-day gallery is a touch of whimsy and wonder, and if you are fortunate, you are apt to find a bit of yourself present on the gallery’s walls. "Art, I find, is an emotional food. It gives us nourishment. We feed on its many forms, and if at times it jars too roughly, tickles too uncomfortably, or soothes too frequently, it would, if not available, be sorely missed. If we were unfortunate enough to lose it, we would once more create it so we could debate why it is so very necessary."

By loretta willard My husband and I discovered Mr. Steidel's gallery on a recent visit to Cannon Beach, Oregon. That visit is the highlight of our trip. We purchased a copy of his book and had a marvelous visit with him. His Gallery is in his home which is housed in a fascinating structure now over 100 years old. You will love the book no matter your age.

THE FIRST CASUALTY OF WAR IS TRUTHFirst, Denland's revolutionaries assassinated their king, launching a wave of bloodshed after generations of peace. Next they clashed with Lascanne, their royalist neighbour, pitching war-machines against warlocks in a fiercely fought conflict.

Genteel Emily Marshwic watched as the hostilities stole her family's young men. But then came the call for yet more Lascanne soldiers in a ravaged kingdom with none left to give. Emily must join the ranks of conscripted women and march toward the front lines.

With barely enough training to hold a musket, Emily braves the savage reality of warfare. But she begins to doubt her country's cause, and those doubts become critical. For her choices will determine her own future and that of two nations locked in battle.

Review Once the musket balls start to fly, Tchaikovsky weaves together a story that keeps you hooked with breathless battle scenes, well-drawn characters and an uneasy feeling in your gut that while Marshwic and her red-coated comrades are winning battles they're slowly losing the war... an engrossing story, beautifully told SFX Magazine World building is steady and relentless; this is a fantasy novel with muskets, magic, war machines and social hierarchies. By Jago This is a great read.Story type: file under fantasy and war, coming of age, and female heroines ... but that really doesn't tell you enough. The world is richly imagined and highly detailed the war is gritty desperate and real, the female character strong, often desperate and played and shaped by circumstance. It gives nothing away to say that the protagonist joins to fight a war against her county's enemies, you learn this in the opening pages but it lacks how human she is - and how vivid the world is. along the way the world expands the back story is fleshed out and our heroine gains in strength. The setting of the world is vivid and mildly fantastical, though in no way is this a Lord of The Rings esq setting. Indeed the world in which the story is set is an equivalent of the 1800s where two countries, previously the closest of allies, are tied in a war to the knife- both seemingly riding riding the rollercoaster to mutual distraction. So dire are the circumstances that in the case of our heroine's homeland they are even sending women to the front. Our heroine starts off straight from the pages of a Jane Austin novel, though even from the get go one can see she has a fire lacking in many of Austin's character's but then she is shaped in a different world and quickly forged by circumstance.Guns of Dawn is apparently a standalone novel and after the 700 pages one is left fairly satisfied. Like a good meal, one is left wanting another bite, more both of our heroine's story and more of that of her world. But perhaps like a good meal, or certainly a good pudding, its best that it ends where it does - even if there are a few [not many] loose threads. In the case of food its keeps the meal from becoming cloying, and in the case of the story it allows the reader's imagination to tie up those few loose ends and add our own ultimate conclusion to the tale. For me, the best of the book was in the depth of the world; the well thought out descriptions of the horrors of the war, and the vivid descriptive prose used to describe the world itself, and the realism of the tale. Our heroine is not all powerful, she is not an axe swinging barbarian princess, she is scarily believable as a character; and for all that this is a fantasy she seemed very real to me and i throughly enjoyed reading her tale. This is not a perfect book but it was a lovely story to experience and a wonderful world to visit. The tempo of the book is not fast- its measured and stately and filled with detail, i enjoyed that. Though i accept that some won't. Romance was there, and whilst key in some ways to the plot it is not the driving force...and this is not a steamy read - and in that it is true to its setting and itself, but there are enough matters of the heart to make the characters believable.I really don't want to give too much away. Like with any book i recommend i'd suggest you download a sample if your interested, if you enjoy that - the rest of the book won't disappoint.

Great book By Giacomo A great standalone book, a military fantasy (should I call it flintlock fantasy?) set in a secondary world loosely inspired by the Napoleonic Age, from an author I knew for his wonderful 10 book long series Shadows of the Apt.The nations of Denland and Lascanne have been fighting since the citizens of the former rose against their King, murdered him and his family, proclaimed a Republic and prepared to invade neighbouring Lascanne to do the same. The seemingly endless war requires more and more Lascanne men to leave their civilian lives behind to go to fight for their country, including all the male relatives of the protagonist of this book, Emily Marshwic, a young woman from an impoverished noble family, until a shocking decree is proclaimed: more soldiers are needed, so one woman from every family with no men left will have to join the army, and it's Emily's turn to leave home and go to the frontlines, where she'll discover that there's a lot of difference between the propaganda and what's really going on...Without saying too much about the rest of the book, I really loved how clearly the author portrays the cruelty of war and its effects on both the soldiers and Lascanne society in its entirety during its aftermath.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Interesting plot By RJ A well written book with an interesting plot. There are parts where I was confused about (a) the size of the world within which the story takes place, and (b) the technology used by the characters (varying between late 17th Century to mid 19th Century).

First of all I think I held my breath for most of the book, it was very intense and I do that when I'm expecting something bad to happen.I also cried, I knew not everyone was going to make it, I mean, it is very obvious from the kind of book that we are reading but one of my favorite characters of the series didn't make it and I am devastated. I guess I was kinda hoping that he would make it even if the odds were against him and to be honest I'm still holding on, I think the author could bring him back if he really wants because Reed didn't really see his body. I think the characters that saw him on the ground were thinking he is dead but maybe not? I hope so. Crossing my fingers...I have to say some of the most intense scenes I have ever read in a book are in this one. Specially the scene with Fitz and Apollo, gosh, I was biting my nails. The story as usual was packed full of action, you won't be bored for a second. And that ending, JEEZ! Now I need the next one like now!!!I have to say this is one of the best series of this genre I have ever read. Will definitely recommend to my friends, specially my guy friends, I think they will love this action packed series. If I could give it 10 stars I would, I think this one is going to be a Best Seller for sure!

Not mindless zombies, but the development of a whole new very scary species By John Davis Since we are into baseball series time, I have to say that these four books are a base loaded home run. These books are not about mindless zombies but the development of a whole new species competing with the ever alarmingly dwindling human population. Great writing, great character development, heart-pounding action, that is military science fiction at its best inside this post-apocalyptic world. Read them all. Cannot wait for the fifth book.

7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. Even scarier and more suspenseful than the other Extinction books! By Julie Blaskie Nicholas Sansbury Smith has done it again! This time we are taken way beyond the other books in the series and expectations. I love this book because it was too hard to put down with all the action going on at the same time! What's happening here? Well... the Variants are continuously evolving and adapting... With the changes in the military and government, who can you trust? More harrowing missions! More suspense awaits...!!!There were many surprises, and it was an exciting read from start to finish. Familiar characters are stretched even further than they imagined; new characters... some you like and some.... well, they can be pretty despicable! The writing keeps you drawn in, and the action keeps your heart thumping! The suspense and horror... you're afraid to see what happens next, but you also HAVE to know what is aroiund the corner!Smith has created a scary new world... and you are glad to have characters like Beckham, Horn, Riley, Chow, Fitz, Apollo, and Garcia on your side! Too, you are glad scientists are doing their best to help these heroes... It's a great story, and I can't wait to read the fifth book when it comes out! This is an even more exciting book than the previous one! I'm not saying much as it's best to see for yourself! Get in there and get hooked on this storyline like the rest of us!Extinction Cycle is definitely a series to keep you on your toes, waiting in anticiption for the next mission! Our heroes are human, and even romance can be found at the end of he world as we know it!

Payback is almost complete. Oh, there are still a few Goth and Orion ships alive and well that need to pay the ultimate price for their part in the destruction of a pirate camp. Pirate Flotilla One will locate and destroy those vessels in due time. Nevertheless, a message has been delivered. Both the Goths and the OrCons now know there are rules, even when fighting pirates. Violate the rules and be prepared for severe consequences. But this is the Badlands. Victories are short lived and defeats are forever. Anyone who thought the Goths were just going to roll over has not been paying attention for the last several decades. The career and reputation of the Goldenes Tor commander, Admiral Werner Beck, are hanging by a thread that is quickly unraveling. He has been given six months to make this situation right. Right is defined as bringing Pirate Flotilla One to combat and annihilating that force. Raferty Hawkins’ head on a stick in front of Fleet Headquarters on Rosstrappe would go a long way to retrieving both career and reputation. There are other forces at work here. People and organizations who want to advance their own interests regardless of the cost to others. The Sunrise Grange is moving to ensure their monopoly on food production. The head of Colandra Enterprises puts a hit team on Raferty Hawkins. The Bries are more than willing to do the Goths’ dirty work as long as there is a payday involved. It is not all fun and games for the other leaders of Flot 1. Killian O’Hare has to rescue a bunch of do-gooders who have been captured by the Goths. Shane Delacruz hears from his old commander who has her own agenda for coming to the Badlands. Tactical renews acquaintances with an old friend. A friend she would just as soon kill as talk to. Despite the many distractions, Raferty remains focused on the task at hand. The Goths have a plan to bring him to combat. He will gladly accept the invitation but on his terms. With the able assistance of Tactical, Baby Doll, Greg Paulsen, Dylan Whitlock, and all the others of Flot 1, he intends to take advantage of his enemy’s desperation to achieve a victory over the Goths, the Sunrise Grange, and the Bries. Everyone has a mission. All these missions will guarantee a meeting in space. There will be no second chance for the loser of that encounter. Just what Raferty Hawkins is counting on.

I have enjoyed all three books so far in the series but it took the author over a year to put them out, so he needs to get working faster. The depth of the possible plots lines gives plenty of room to expand the story as he has done here and his development of the players is not finished yet so keeps you wanting more of their backstory. The action is creditable and the science doesn't strain my belief factor. I don't look for a book to have some deep message or even deep thoughts. I read for enjoyment and if the author can let me be transported into that universe and story then I have gotten my money's worth and more. Old age sucks enough that even the birds don't like it. I live in the real world, I play in my imagination. I look forward to many more adventures in this universe. I also hope this author continues to be a self publisher and keeps his prices affordable. I have several authors who have signed with the big publishers or just got so popular they have raised the price too high. I refuse to pay more for a kindle ebook than a actual printed copy. There is no justification for it. The author deserves pay for his work but if it is in ebook form I don't see the need for my paying for the cost of ink, paper, printing, shipping etc. My 2 cents. The editing and proofreading of this book does cost and its results are seen here. Kudos. Dan

By Peter Good change of paceIn Book 3 of this satisfactory series, Mr. Benjamin switches the pace. Raferty Hawkins and his flotilla return to the Badlands and he continues to weave his web. The consequences of his actions reverberate in this volume while new developments are paced throughout the book.It is difficult to give details of these developments without spoilers but suffice it to say that the author has a multi volume plot in mind. I would highly recommend to anyone new to the Pirates of the Badlands to begin with Book 1.Very much looking forward to Book 4.

I love te Discord Jones series and thus was definitely a Discord book with Discord working her way through another difficult situation. I love these books because while they definitely follow smoothly from the last book they are independent of each other. There is a beginning, middle, and end. No cliffhangers, no leaving you hanging for resolution but still waiting to see what will happen next. Where characters are more than just names on a page they interact with Discord and each other. Where nothing is just black or white, where all "sups" are not all good (or bad) and all normals are well, normal (good guys, bad guys, and just so-so guys). I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am already waiting for the next book!

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Still holding my interest By C Thilmany Often, by the sixth book in a series, I begin to lose interest as the stories often have a feel of sameness to them. That hasn’t happened for me with this series. There is enough growth and new aspects that this book easily held my interest. This time PI and psychic Discordia Jones is called in by the police to help with nightly horrible murders and theft of magical items. Who or even what is the question and touching the bodies brings about a serious backlash on Cordi of what the victims experienced.Besides the mystery and horror there are the various relationships with secondary characters, humor, the dogs, some new situations and her relationship with Logan moves forward. One new situation appears to carry forward into at least the next book as we have yet to discover a reason it was brought about as well as how it will change her life. This story would be somewhat difficult to follow if you haven’t read the prior books.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Loved it! By Duffy Walters I reread all the books in the series in preparation for reading this book. I have to say, it is an interesting and intriguing series but I must warn you, these are not stand alone books. They are rather complicated in plot and characters. It would be very confusing to start with this book, thinking you could understand what was going on. If I had any complaint, it would be that sometimes I get a bit tired of Cordi's self centered moaning and groaning. I am glad she is realizing she needs to grow up. It seemed to take forever to begin her romance with Logan. Lots of angst to get through. Sometimes it seems to take awhile to figure out the bad guys and then it is bang, bang - the end. Still, it is enough to keep me looking forward to the next book.

4 of 5 people found the following review helpful. The Once Great Tradition By reading man This is one of the most important books of literary criticism written in the 20th century.Leaving aside the issue of how much of it F.R. himself wrote (Q.D., his wife and literary partner, once claimed that she wrote a substantial part of it), and leaving aside his tortuous (tortured?) prose style, the book definitely contains insights of genius. What Leavis (or the Leavises) get right:(1) Late Henry James is far inferior to earlier novels like PORTRAIT OF A LADY and THE BOSTONIANS, though praise for THE AWKWARD AGE is, IMHO, misguided.(2) George Eliot is a great novelist, not a philosopher and novelist manque, even if most of her later works are uneven (Leavis analysis of DERONDA is superb). However, I think MIDDLEMARCH deserves a higher mark than he gives it.(3) Conrad is definitely part of the "great tradition", but the list of his best books should include LORD JIM and HEART OF DARKNESS, which Leavis dismisses, and exclude VICTORY and CHANCE, which he praises.(4) Thomas Hardy should be part of the "great tradition", because TESS, JUDE, and THE MAYOR OF CASTERBRIDGE are the equals of the writers Leavis includes, even on Leavis' terms ("maturity", "moral seriousness", etc.)Leavis has no appreciation of comic novels (witness his exclusion of Sterne and Fielding from the GT), and he mentions Lawrence in passing, only to overpraise this dubious "genius" in two later books. His position on Dickens is ridiculous. HARD TIMES is the only book he thinks isn't "entertainment", a view he renounced several years later without apology or explanation.I'm glad Leavis is no longer a power in literary criticism, but he was once a force and what's good in him still rings true.

Anderson Interesting, but I could never figure out the author's criteria for what belonged in the "great tradition" and what didn't, and hence, I still wonder why he limited it to Austen, Eliot, James and Conrad.

Paris in Winter combines fanciful ink and watercolor drawings by American artist and writer David Coggins with charming vignettes about his family's annual New Year's sojourns to Paris, which, because of their unending love for the city, they've been taking together for almost 20 years. This memoir of poetic, lighthearted stories highlights the family's passion for art and food, fashion and social life. Family rituals--from having lunch each January at the delightful Le Grand Vefour to haunting favorite antique shops and seeking out-of-the-ordinary spots, like a little known garden or a gypsy circus--are interspersed with serendipitous moments: hearing Bono sing "Happy Birthday" to a friend in a bistro, adopting an abandoned lap dog, and the simple pleasures of Parisian street life.     Coggins's delicate and intimate drawings capture classic Parisian scenes as well as family and friends against the backdrop of the elegant City of Light under the cloak of winter. Across cafés and hotels, apartments and galleries, the family mixes with a lively group of Parisian and international actors, designers, writers, and students. Furthermore, Coggins weaves in fascinating bits of the city's history and artistic lore, from Victor Hugo's interior designs to the painting that legend has it started Impressionism, to delight Francophiles all over.

Paris in Winter: An Illustrated Memoir, by David Coggins

Review “An alluring delight to the eye, ear, mind, and palate. David Coggins, who clearly knows Paris inside-out, celebrates the world’s most beautiful city in all her beguiling facets. He wears his culture and his sophistication lightly – but you will learn a lot along the way.”  -William Boyd, author of Solo and Sweet Caress“Paris in Winter is an essential meditation for our fraught times, a primer on the absolute value of pleasure, the passion of and for art, the avidity of taste and perception. This is a book to read – of course – but also to see.” - Patricia Hampl, author of The Florist’s Daughter and Blue Arabesque“David Coggins, a writer and illustrator of great soul and sensitivity, has created that loveliest and rarest of works: an illustrated, beautifully-written and observed memoir that will inspire anyone who reads it to think about his life and how he wants to live it. This is a book that is like the best afternoon you’ve ever passed in a Paris café with your best friend on a cold January afternoon: light-filled, comforting, enchanting and entertaining, and filled with beauty.” -Michael Hainey, author of After Visiting Friends

About the Author David Coggins is the author and illustrator of the travel memoir, The Nostalgic Heart, recipient of an Independent Publisher Book Award. His eight-volume set of daybooks, published under the pseudonym Robert Carolina, is in the collection of the Minneapolis Institute of Art. His artwork has been exhibited in Paris, London, and Santiago, Chile as well as in U.S. galleries and museums. Transporting you right to the cold wintery streets of Paris. "Paris is made for strollers..." Filled with unique glimpses into Parisian culture and traditions. I read through it in one go. And will read again and again. The illustrations seem to perfectly capture the ethos of Paris life, as well as compliment the stories. Everyone interprets travel and experiences differently and I love the overall picture this paints for you of Paris, but more so the personal point of view from Coggins adds so much more...the interactions within the family and the locals, so fun to read. If you've been to Paris you'll love it, if you haven't you'll love it. Great book for the collection.

PDF Ebook Boston - 2016 (The Food Enthusiast's Complete Restaurant Guide), by Sebastian Bond

There are many people who are enthusiastic about food—the cooking of it, the preparation of it, the serving of it, and let’s not forget the eating of it. But Sebastian Bond is the ultimate Food Enthusiast. This is another of his books with spot-on reviews of the most exciting restaurants in town. Some will merit only a line or two, just to bring them to your attention. Others deserve a half page or more. “Exciting” does not necessarily mean expensive. The area’s top spots get the recognition they so richly deserve (and that they so loudly demand), but there are plenty of “sensible alternatives” for those looking for good food handsomely prepared by cooks and chefs who really care what they “plate up” in the kitchen. For those with a touch of Guy Fieri, Bond ferrets out the best food for those on a budget. That dingy looking dive bar around the corner may serve up one of the juiciest burgers in town, perfect to wash down with a locally brewed craft beer. Whatever your predilection or taste, cuisine of choice or your budget, you may rely on Sebastian Bond not to disappoint. Bond dines anonymously at the Publisher’s expense. No restaurant listed in this series has paid a penny or given so much as a free meal to be included. Bon Appétit!

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A Ripoff By Amazon Customer This "complete restaurant guide" lists only 18 restaurants. And not all of them are still in business. In order to flesh out the book's 44 pages the author uses photographs (about 1/4 of the book) and line drawings (5 pages of them). When you also consider the index (why does an alphabetized list of 18 restaurants have a 2-page alphabetized index?), the title page, the table of contents, the excessive use of white-space (including one blank page) and the other-books-by advertisement, this is basically a 10-page pamphlet.

Use an app By Texas Mom Extremely limited entries, information was good but I actually expected a "complete" guide to good restaurants in Boston. If this guide is correct, there are only a handful. We were visiting the city and this book really let us down. Use an app.

I have been hooked since I read the Apex Triology, and am left wanting more. I followed it up with the first DTA book, however, only realized there was a second book 3 days ago. Sorry for missing that. I also just figured out the other books Z Burbia series gives some background. I have not started on those books yet, but will. Right now I seem to be readying in reverse order, but it works. If you like the zombie genre and looking for another good author to get your fix, give DTA or Apex a try, you won't regret it.

But I followed Z-burbia from beginning to the end of this novel and loved loved loved it . Glad it hasn't ended yet. I feel as if I know every character , the good and the bad but most of all loved the philosophy regarding family and perseverance. I've enjoyed everything Jake Bible has written. As long as he continues to write I'll continue to read his work.

Beyond The Milky Way (The Galaxy Series Book 1), by Aithal

Review *** An enthralling novel about a flight crew's journey down the rabbit hole and back. Thematically powerful. Sometimes too talky, but richly detailed and expertly plotted. The narrative moves slowly but delivers layer upon layer of revelation, unpeeled with limpid skill. Surprisingly absorbing and agreeable, given the stereotyped characters and general air of predictability, with unobtrusive yet well thought-out notions and a backdrop of genuine depth and consistency. ***A cautionary planetary odyssey with a feel that's similar to stories from sci-fi's golden age. -Kirkus Reviews.

Really amazing story By TwilightZone3942 Beyond the Milky Way is an upcoming book, a story that fans of The Martian will definitely want to add to their reading list. I finished reading it in two days, it was very gripping and interesting. "Could humans survive living on another planet?" has always been an interesting topic, one that has a lot of controversy, and in this exciting book, three people dare to find out. The trouble is that although their new-found planet has the elements humans need to survive, it doesn't necessarily have the things that they're connected to emotionally, and to stay away from Earth will be the ultimate test to see just what "home" really means.I'm really glad I got to review this book; there have been similar books in the past but none exactly like this that go into so much depth. It's part sci-fi, but also combines a number of other elements and explores human nature in a realistic and eye-opening way. Beyond the Milky Way will have readers questioning not just themselves, but the world (and possibly many other worlds) around them as well

By Martha Sweeney Aithal has done a great job presenting questions and possibilities with regards to our planet, our race, our galaxy and our universe. The subjects he presents are matters that I have been discussing with my husband and close friends for a number of years. Regardless where people are, there are challenges facing us - all of us. These challenges must be considered and decided upon where to move next, moving forward rather than backward. Focusing on what was and what is doesn't always allow us to take the necessary steps to solve such challenges - so where do we go from there? That dang cliffy! AHHH! It was great and I look forward to see where the next book goes. It's funny that I've read this - aside from the romance novels I'm writing, I'm actually working on a sci-fi fantasy that poses similar ideas for readers to ponder and more.A great second book by the author after the first novel, India Was One, that is very different but still strong. You'll learn a lot about the author by reading both books. :)

A must read for sci-fi fans By Devika Fernando It’s been a long time since I last read a science-fiction novel, so I welcomed the opportunity to dive into the ARC of “Beyond the Milky Way” by Aithal. And the book certainly didn’t disappoint me.The story starts with a bang – almost literally – and keeps up the thrilling pace. I didn’t find a single page boring or superfluous, and that isn’t the case about all sci-fi books out there. What I liked straight away is that we know a bit more about what is going on than the protagonists, and that makes it all the more nerve-wracking. I’m also pleased that that the author has included a woman in the main trio. The story takes us into space and to another planet, and it combines the thrill of new discoveries, doubtful friends and exotic threats with a nice philosophical touch. You can feel that the author has put a lot of thought into what kind of message he wants to convey, and I echo his sentiments and outlook on life. A lot of issues crop up in the book, cleverly – but not overly – criticizing human behaviour with its many dangerous aspects. This book is Book 1 of a series, and I will certainly pick up Book 2 when it comes out. Although the story ends on a cliffhanger, it didn’t leave me frustrated, only thoughtful and entertained in equal measure. The lovely illustrations and quotes / poems added to the appeal of the book, as was also the case with “India Was One” by An Indian.

By Kayhold I have gotten several Kindle books from Baby Professor and most of them I have really enjoyed. This particular product is meant for first graders and it is about the early Pilgrims of America. The book starts off with short, simple explanations of what a pilgrim is and who the Pilgrims are that we always talk about. There are very cool illustrations in this book. The book also explains why they were called “Separatists” and how they left on their journey across the Atlantic Ocean. The book goes over the Mayflower Compact and what it meant to the Pilgrims. Then it talks about the first Thanksgiving feast – although it glosses over a lot of details with that. I have a child in kindergarten and a child in first grade. I think this is a cute book to start a discussion, but it’s pretty simplified for a first grader. Of course this book isn’t meant to be an entire history book or anything like that. When the Thanksgiving season comes around you could easily use this as a supplement to talk about the Pilgrims and look at some of the pictures. There are pictures of the homes they probably lived in and pictures of ships, and drawings of the Pilgrims and the Indians that are very interesting. I wish the pictures told more details. I wish that the drawing of the Pilgrims would say who the artist was. Then we could go more into detail and look up more by that artist. I wish that the picture of the boat would tell where that picture was taken. Was that the actual ship that the Pilgrims took? Is it just a random ship in a harbor? I have no idea, so don’t know what to tell my children. All in all this is a cute supplemental book but you will have to add a lot to it to make it worth it for a first grader or above, in my opinion. I received this product at a discount in exchange for my honest review.

ROMERO This book belongs to Baby Professor (Speedy Publishing) 1st Grade Collection. It is an good introductory book with plain, simple and basic knowledge for any small children to learn either at home or school. These kind of books can spark an interest that may continue on for several days or weeks. This particular book deals about America's first pilgrims as a short and concise book pertaining to our earliest settlers. It has lovely illustrations and photos that can be discussed with children while reading this book. The concepts included about the Pilgrims, their reasons to travel to American Soil and the following is something to consider and to discuss with children as well.Great book, I did like it a lot and I do recommend to anyone. Please note that I have received this book for free in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. If this review is helpful for you, then please click the “yes” button below. I have been doing extra things for them here at home because at public schools they do not get that one on one attention they need in any subjects they may need. I try and find books and learning equipment via the Kindle app or books. I like the Kindle books because you do not have to worry about what page you were on all your tablets, phones, etc can all be synced so you can see where your child is at. This book is super easy to read and has even some information my daughter who is in 3rd grade didn't know. I like how detailed it is as well.

This is a reproduction of a 1960s book and Ipcar is a fantastic children's illustrator with a distinct style from that era. A pure pleasure to look at. The text, however, is not so great. I'm no expert, but I don't believe the part where she says once all cats were wild then we tamed them to become house cats. The illustration would have you believe Mittens is descended from lions and tigers. What about the Egyptian house cats? Doesn't bother me but I can tell you animal activists are *not* going to like all the pages about how animals work for the good of humankind. Just saying .... Pretty illustration thoug
