Prior's character, Deacon Shader has become one of my favorite conflicted heroes in literature. With the prequels, Prior gives us further insight into who Deacon Shader really is and the forces that shaped him, before you get into the fabulously rollicking good adventures in the Shader Quartet, which are some of my favorite books of all time.In the Seventh Horse, we find Deacon is a knight, as head of a Seventh Horse company of Elite Heavy Cavalry warriors for the theocracy. They are facing their greatest enemy - Otto Blightey, the Lich Lord of Verusia. Otto is well versed in dark magic, and as a lich, is not warmly alive himself, but is still a starkly evil intelligence operating in the world.The attack starts with dark magic fog, staking the good guys ( like Vlad the impaler ), then zombie warriors. The theocracy will throw everything at this battle, because losing is just not an option.If the 300 fought supernatural opponents, you would have this book. As much as the battle is important, it is what Deacon feels afterwards and his choices and those around him that are really interesting. Do religion and slaughter mix? Can you blatantly kill lots of people in the name of religion and be absolved?Action, battle, character development, angst, turning points, supernatural, violence and friendship. What more could you ask for?I highly recommend both prequels and the Shader Quartet. While you're at it, try the Nameless Dwarf book too. They all happen in the same series of world's, and characters intersect. Complex, imaginative, sometimes sarcastic, political, weirdly mystical.Just Awesome!The author dropped the ARC on my head so I couldn't resist.

By Scott morrison I have been waiting for this very dark chapter in the story of Deacon Shaders life since the first time it was referenced and God it's been a long wait but it was worth it,Such an amazing gripping read that will make you need to read the rest of his story, Does D.P.Prior ever fail to give us anything less than great work? No, he doesn't and I am eagerly awaiting the next instalment!Yet again amazing work and this deserves every bit of praise it receives! Thanks again Derek it has been a pleasure!The latest of D.P.PRIORS work is the battle of Trajinot after the tyrant of verusia makes a bold move that forces the templum to take action. A dark battle that shows how even the best of men can succumb to fear and what a devastating effect it can have on an army and it shows finally how shader had his faith shaken so badly.Not to mention the small glimpse into the power that the Lich Lord of Verusia (my personal favourite villain) could throw at the world.Can the templum best verusia's mighty lumbering army and push the tyrannical lich lords forces back from their soil?!

About the Author Jann Rowland Jann Rowland was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. He enjoys reading, sports, and he also dabbles a little in music, taking pleasure in singing and playing the piano. Though Jann did not start writing until his mid-twenties, writing has grown from a hobby to an all-consuming passion. His interest in Jane Austen stems from his university days when he took a class in which Pride and Prejudice was required reading. Acting on Faith is his first published novel, but he envisions many more in the coming years, both within the Pride and Prejudice universe and without. He now lives in Alberta, with his wife of more than twenty years, and his three children. Lelia Eye Lelia Eye was born in Harrison, Arkansas. She loves reading and misses the days when she was able to be a part of the community theater group in Harrison. Lelia has enjoyed writing since she won a short story contest in the sixth grade, and she graduated from the University of Central Arkansas with a Master’s degree in English. McBride It was a pleasant surprise and honor to be asked to review On Wings of Air (Book I, Earth and Sky). This is not a children’s book, but would be of value to children capable of understanding its wisdom as a most joyous learning experience. In my 72 years I’ve found very few books that I would recommend to others. This is one of them. The principal characters, Tierra and Skye, are well presented as living in two opposing cultures with many parallels to problems of modern societies. These two, princess and prince, master and slave, grow to love each other during the course of the book, while their respective parents, Kings and Queens of different realms toil fruitlessly to keep them apart. These interact with a host of other characters, friend and foe alike, in allegory after allegory, of mystery, fantasy, and intrigue. Each chapter is presented by portions of an epic poem, “The Book of Celeste”, which serves to prepare the reader as well as reinforce the conflicting themes. There are many threads throughout the book that suggest solutions for many of life’s problems based in the survival of good over evil. I could not put the book down after I got past my own prejudices. The story is captivating and follows theatrical structures both familiar and fantastical leading to an ending that is exciting, mysterious, and unexpected. By Queeniemary Although it takes a little time in the beginning of the book to set the stage, delineating the differences between the two worlds, their creation and the people that inhabit them, it is well worth the time. Prefacing each chapter are excerpts from the Book of Celesta, telling of how the worlds came into existence. These excerpts help to explain certain actions taking place in the chapter. This is a love story, a story of friendships and loyalties, but also a story of great betrayals. The descendants of Celesta in the clouds, and the descendants of Terrain on earth, each feel much superior to the other. Each feels their deity is the true deity. Struggles between the cultures escalate due to evil, greed and prejudice. The friendship that grows between Skye, the prince of the Skychildren, and Tierra, the princess of the Groundbreathers is sweet, and becomes a stepping stone toward a possible truce between the cultures. The book takes situations much like is faced in our world today, puts them in a fantasy setting of sky dwellers, ground dwellers and ground breathers, along with dragons and mythical creatures and emerges as a very good, well written story. In Wings of Air By Marykayed26 As an avid lover of books, I was honored to be asked to review the first book, On Wings of Air, in a three part trilogy. The beginning takes you through the background of both worlds, the world of the sky and the world of the ground. The characters of Skye and Tierra draw you in to their thoughts and emotions with the situations that that they have to overcome and the experiences that define them. This book is not only a love story, but a story of courage, strength, and tenacity. In a culminating plot twist, not everything is what it seems. I would highly recommend this book not only for young adults but for adults as well. I received a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Ebook shares some "golden" book marketing tips from Glover's experience By Barbara Schiffman Book marketing is not a life or death experience -- unless you're a self-published author (or a traditionally published author whose publisher no longer provides marketing support!). Glover's experience has clearly been valuable as she shares some gold nuggets from it in this ebook. For me, most of the gold was in the second half, however. Her thoughts about identifying your readers are not new, but some of her Must Have Resources for an author's marketing kit include new approaches to using video book trailers, banners and headers, and even creating quotes from your own books as "visual memes." Her notes on why treating Amazon as a marketing "partner" and the value of letting Amazon readers "borrow" your book were encouraging to me and I'm now trying out her tips with my own books. For new self-promoting &/or self-publishing authors, Glover's experience can steer you in a good direction and is worth the ebook price. (I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book so I could give an honest review.)

As a business graduate majoring in e-commerce, I feel that I have a good grasp on how to approach readers from a marketing standpoint and feel that this book gives some wonderful advice. As a book promoter, I see way too many authors stuck in writer mode. While consistently publishing new books is key, authors need to be proactive in promoting their books as well.This book is filled with advice that will help a number of authors. From understanding your ideal reader (AKA target audience) to building social media accounts that will help you connect with more readers, there are tips that many authors are going to find useful.Is it a book that will turn you into an overnight success? No. And, personally, I'm skeptical of any book that makes such claims. This book makes it clear that becoming an overnight success is rare. Instead if gives concrete advice in helping your potential readers find your books.Reviewer was given a free book in exchange for an honest review.

I then ran across Sugar & Spice : Halloween Dance Party: Everyone's favorite jack o' lanterns are back! The age level for this is 5-11 and grades 1-3. This is a fun book that tells about Albert not being able to find anyone to go to the Halloween party with him and how he ends up in the deep dark woods. My daughter really likes all the pictures in it too. If your looking for a cute Halloween story this is a good one.

The pictures are as bright and vibrant as the characters Little Corey and Cousin Nia, and take us through questions, discoveries and new understandings about caring for ourselves and loving the bodies, homes, and environment we're in, from a child's perspective. Any parent who loves the feeling of accomplishment they get when their child reflects something they've learned will identify with Corey's mother, and smile with her. I'm excited about all the little minds that are going to identify with Corey and Nia, and be healthier, more organized, and more curious because of it. The characters are also bilingual, so both parents and kids can expect to learn a little casual French as well.If you want the kids in your home or classroom to learn about ANY of those concepts, Little Corey & Cousin Nia stories will be a pretty awesome starting point. You also get to support an up and coming author with a really great mission. Like the book, share it, read it to your kids.Thank you, N'nako, I can't wait to see more.

The state has a pivotal role to play in addressing the structural and historic inequality in the country, but must guard against unintended consequences flowing from actions that inhibit market mechanisms. If anything, the logic contained in the book shows how current state planning might inadvertently, but surely, lead to the very erosion of the freedom that so many people fought for without delivering the goods as promised. Our good intentions will grind us to a halt.

About the Author Cobus Venter is a senior consulting economist at the bureau for economic research at stellenbosch university where he heads up the macro services and ad hoc research division. Prior to working for the university he worked as an independent consulting economist and was also an executive director at the leading regulatory specialist consulting firm ECONEX. During his time as an economist he has consulted widely across just about all sectors of the South African economy. He has worked in various fields in the private sector, mostly as a self-employed entrepreneur, but spent more than a decade in the hotel and property trade. He is a director of Happimo.org which is described as a non-profit organisation dedicated to giving all south Africans, rich or poor, access to cutting-edge technology that can help them live safer, healthier and smarter lives. His favorite pastime is watching the growing success of Project Isizwe which delivers free WiFi to millions of South Africans so that they are better able to make informed decisions about their lives... and a bit of fishing. He re-joined the economics profession in 2008 just in time for the great financial crisis and has been trying to make sense of the world and the country ever since. He grew up in Johannesburg but now lives in Stellenbosch with his wife and three young sons.

A MUST read for South Africans and all interested in Economic realities of STATE PLANNING and outcomes By Pdv606 This book reads easily , is logical in approach and even a non Economist will follow easily.Economics 101 over 100 years congested successfully by the author. It is valid for most countries as it takes well known Theory and blends with motivation for STATE intervention vs State planning and the need for it at times and for various valid reasons.It is also very to the POINT ito South Africa and the dream vs reality vs success vs failure of the last 21 years.Absolutely worth a read - gives perspective in short pointed fashion. A year after, we still read this every night, not only because it eases the fear my kiddos feel when nighttime comes, but we also love the illustrations and crisp & smooth pages of the book. Though most of the images consist of black and pink and white, the whole book itself was colorful and very pleasing to the eyes.Daisy could teach my sons a thing or two about the dark. I thank her because she isn't afraid of Darkness. She even befriends him and shares a cup of lemonade and together they dance the Twist!This is a highly entertaining read and I recommend this to parents who have a hard time putting their kids to sleep :)

This book , by personifying night, has come up with a way to involve their imagination with darkness, turning it from a world of fear to a world of wonder.
