By Brian Williamson I have to laugh when I see non sales people reviewing a product like this one and bashing it. How can a non sales person possibly understand sales and sales psychology?I used to work with a guy who I will refer to as Eugene. Eugene was articulate, intelligent, clean looking and talked the talk. He had sales experience, 25+ years worth or actually 1 year repeated 25 times. He had the gift of gab. Despised sales trainers like Brian Tracy and his paycheck showed it. He was a know it all who knew nothing. Could talk to a prospect for an hour and in most cases talked them right our of buying. He thought he was a sales pro but was an outright amateur. Eugene didn't last long at any sales job because he always thought he was "overqualified" for the job even though he usually came in last place on the sales board.The negative reviews here remind me of Eugene. They sound articulate and intelligent. Use good vocabulary and try to impress you. One of Brian Tracy's key phrases is to "seek to express not impress." Eugene and the one star reviewers here can learn from that.Also funny how the 1 star reviewers refer to this products as a book. It's a tape set! These reviewers didn't even check the item they were reviewing and I bet never listened to the tapes. How could they when they refer to it as a book?This tape set is a good start. You will learn consultative techniques as well as closing techniques that work. If you are a fan of SPIN, you may not like this program. Sorry to burst your bubble, but objections are part of the selling process as all real salespeople know.And if you are a telemarketer following robotic techniques, you will be lost here. Ditto for used car and hard sell types.After you listen to this tape set, I recommend that you read The Psychology of Selling and Advanced Selling Techniques by Tracy.

And most importortly, he shows you how to create win/win situations with your clients.I also recommend Advanced Selling Strategies by Tracy and the unabridged audio tape program from Nightingale-Conant The Psychology of Selling and Advanced Selling Techniques.Your sales will soar and you will create happy customer relationships.

Carly Huss's newest novel "9 LIVES" reminds me of Charlaine Harris's Sookie Stackhouse series. You have a novel written in the first person, as the Sookie books were, concerning a full figured girl with a secret identity that she doesn't even understand, which takes place in a small southern town called Lewisville. Also like the Sookie books, the heroine of the novel, Amelia, must decide between two suitors, both of whom would take her life on a different path. I hope it isn't giving too much away, to suggest the book is about shape shifters, with the "9 LIVES" title suggesting cats. The plot isn't convoluted, nor are there an abundance of characters to track. Since the novel is essentially a romance with fantasy overtones about a 17 year old girl, I believe the Young Adult market would love the book. Amelia's awakening to adulthood, and various responsibilities that this entails, as well as the heavy hand of fate, are the primary themes here. There's no steamy sex scenes described, more like first kiss material. Huss's style also doesn't employ profanity, making this a novel anybody could read without offense. My only critique would concern the ending. A lot happens in the last few pages, with many major characters left dangling. Hopefully this suggests another novel in the series, so we can see what happens to the Fila kingdom, and if Veronica ever succeeds in her diabolical scheming against Queen Nikki, not to mention what happens to the Prince of Foxxes, or Amelia's brother.

Though my only complaint about this series is; the books are too small and mug too expensive to read and buy continuously like I did. 10 books so far 1 free and the other 9 2.99 over $21 for a book series that is 5 books away from being the length of the Percy Jackson series.

I was fascinated by the author's interpretation of what it might have been like for psychics By Christine Kohler I have been loving this Elizabethan Romance series for its characters, humor, and history. Each book adds another dimension to the historical period in European power struggles among countries and Church. Each book also adds to the understanding of the individual Maid characters. (Maid of Honors are spies who serve Queen Elizabeth.)Sophia's story in MAID OF WONDER was different than the previous Maid of Honor stories. It lacked the humor and took a dark ominous tone. But in many ways the author, Jennifer McGowan, showed brilliance in this paranormal, which could be classified as magic realism, as she displayed a deeper range of her abilities as an author. I was fascinated by the author's interpretation of what it might have been like for psychics, even the notorious French Nostradamus, to conjure up, or enter, the spirit world for their visions and predictions.If there was any doubt, MAID OF WONDER proved that this series, though the books are fast easy reads, shouldn't be chalked off as just Romance novels. The history is deeply researched and the books well-written. I look forward to the next in the series. (I'm especially curious about Jane's story, as it undoubtedly will be a tragic tale.)I bought all of the series.

So their was no doubt that I would read this book when it became available. I admit that Sophia is not my favorite maiden, but I was intrigued to learn her story.Sophia's gift is interesting to me. I wonder how it would be viewed in today's world that she conversed with angels? It was definitely hearsay in that time. I wonder if that fear was partially why she seemed to have so little control and understanding of it. Until it came down to an ultimatum, it didn't even seem like she was trying to make complete use of it.I did find her voice annoying at times. You can tell she is a little bit more sheltered and naive compared to the rest of the maids. She doesn't seem to have any responsibility like the others. While her gift is no easy, she needed to be pushed to do it. I think Elizabeth did it in her typical fashion. She wanted to make a spectacle of it for her own amusement. I loved the inclusion on Nostradamus, although I admit that I don't know much about him besides his name. I was on the fence when it came to Marcus Quinn. I felt it was kind of creepy how he could see Sophia in her dreams and seemed to be there every time she turned around. But, he also seemed very invested in her well being.Overall, an adequate addition to the series. You can't really have it without a story about Sophia, so I'm happy to have it. I sincerely hope this series continues.

This is the weakest book in the series; to much ethereal, angel material that didn't really move the story. The mystery is a bit weak as well. I wanted more about the times, but this book could have been in any time period for how much she referenced the time period (yes we have some bits but much of the book is Sophia in the "angel realm."). The other world that Sophia ventures into is beyond frustrating and the author goes on and on about this world, not sure how it advanced the story, instead I would have preferred an editor to cut this down.I did like the romance, though it was quick. I was hoping to see more of the previous two stories and the romances there, but not much. Also, would have liked to see more of the Maids of Honor working together and perhaps just some day to day life for them, does it always have to be life or death?? Does there always have to be torture?I would say read this book if you are invested in the series but as a stand-alone, not worth it.

I am very much scared of them and even if people will probably laugh at me when I say this I am scared of an upcoming zombie apocalypse. This book scared and excited me all at the same time. I cannot imagine being in the place of these survivors. I don't even think I would last a day in a zombie apocalypse.

A complex and knowledgeable book with impressive pictures By Stephanie Dekrout This highly-illustrated book presents Bhutan textiles in their diversity: they are clothes and everyday objects, currency and commodity, mark important events as gifts during life, and are testament to the social status of a person. But they are also an integral aspect of religious festivals, dances, and rituals that provide insight into the mystical and religious beliefs of the Bhutanese people, and reflect the concept of gender in Bhutanese society. The book also tells the story of a country that is searching for a sensitive balance between tradition and progress in a globalized world. It's an excellent book, meticulously researched and beautifully illustrated with plenty of great field photographs and rare archival images. A wealth of information is included that has never before been available in one volume. It's magical going through the pages and it's a must for textile artists and bhutan lovers.

Well written and gripping space adventures - not just sex, swearing and swagger By PKNZ This was a fast paced and very entertaining book, which came as quite a surprise to me. I usually find "space operas" a bit silly and superficial but this had real 3-dimensional main characters, and the pace and tension was not just from continuous action scenes but was also from cleverly developed anticipation of what was coming next in the plot. I don't know a lot about physics, and I definitely don't want my escapism to be turned into a physics class, but this book had just the right amount of concise explanation of some principles to make the whole thing very believable (to me). I also enjoyed the fact that the whole experience of reading this book was not tainted by excessive foul language or unnecessary sex scenes. In fact the author has a very deft touch when it comes to dropping small nuggets of information about his characters and their world that all add to the whole picture and raise the book from entertaining fluff, to thought provoking entertainment. I went straight off and bought the second book and found it just as satisfying :) Hooray, a new author to explore. As some other reviewers have said, there is a need for some editing, but not enough to spoil the read.

Very good read By Gregg C This was a good book about a law that they came up with that said it was illegal to put weapons of any kind on a spacecraft , in fact I think that you weren't allowed weapons of size anywhere by law or the punishment was death . We know how that would've worked out today and the same for them , not as well as the politicians thought. ( No big surprise there . I don't think politicians think. ) One man and a few loyal friends decided not to follow that law ( the good guys) and a bunch of well backed others ( the bad guys ) This book has a good storyline to it and the characters are already getting well developed. My only gripe with this book was the word usage or misplaced words and I'm not one to be picky about it but I did have to go back a few times to understand what was said.That's the only reason for the 4 stars. People are always happy to ARC read for you and it only takes a couple to do it and in time you weed out the one's looking for free books . This book is well worth reading and I did enjoy it very much. When it comes to a good space action book it really has to be bad for me not to at least give it a chance . Thumbs up on this one. Nice job Mr McLaughlin. I will be getting the next one .

It reminds me vividly of the classical hard sci fi that I read cover to cover in one sitting when I was young and life was simple enough to allow me to do so. The Accord books brought me back there. Mr. McLaughlin has found his stride in Accord. Author of quite a collection of short fantasy and sci fi stories and at least another two or three series, this one stands out for its fast pace, strong plot, and engaging, though not always likeable, characters.A good read, and one you won't want to put down till it's gone.

Patrick Calhoun sent me a copy of this book to review. I was quite pleasantly surprised. Mr. Calhoun has written a very concise primer on the building blocks of Mexican cuisine. I loved his easy, conversational writing style, which made the recipes very accessible. The illustrations are wonderful, clear photographs not only of finished dishes but also of steps during the cooking process and even actual products. What does chipotle in adobo look like? Don't know? This book will clearly show you. There was a very helpful hint in the book regarding onions that I have never seen before, and that I will incorporate into my recipes as well. Mr. Calhoun demystifies the basics of Mexican cuisine in a very clear and enjoyable way. Thumbs up.

I am influenced by Alton Brown, Harold McGee, Modernist Cuisine, sous vide, America's Test Kitchen, Kenji Lopez-Alt, etc.One of the things, in my opinion, which has been lacking in culinary education is an approachable guide to ethnic cuisine. There seems to be very little available to someone who wants to get into say Indian, Mexican, Chinese, etc and provides the big picture, a brief but expansive foundation, and a template for cooking that ethnicity.Patrick has provided just that for Mexican fare. His approach: let's create a template for sauces, rice, beans, and guacamole. From those templates, the reader is free to go off the reservation once they feel comfortable on the property.His explanation of peppers (Poblano, Jalapeno, and Serrano) make them understandable and put them in a framework for guiding the user on which to use and when depending on what you want to accomplish. Did you know that Chipotle is really a smoked Jalapeno? Did you know that Chipotle is often mispronounced as Chipolte (that's a freebee, not in the book)?Probably the most controversial piece in the book in today's society of health conscious fatties (you know who I mean, the 300 lb diet soda drinkers) is the use of "white butter" or lard. As a society we cringe at the use of the product. However, the majority of people are unaware that "..a scientific analysis of 21 studies determined that there is no significant evidence that dietary saturated fat is associated with an increased risk of coronary artery disease.." (Dr. Andrew Weil) and that lard today is used as a flavor enhancer by many well known chefs.Patrick has provided the template ... so easy to learn and use and a number of recipes which should be fun to make.I highly recommend this book as your first intro to Mexican cooking after which you should feel free to diverge.As a bonus which Patrick has provided, go to your local butcher and ask for pork fat and render it to produce not only excellent and healthy lard, but also the quintessential snack, chicharones.

Essential Recipes, Step-By-Step Photos By Sandy Toes Calhoun's new book is prefect for someone wanting to venture beyond Tex-Mex and cook what they're eating south of the border. These are the real deal, authentic recipes. With lots of books on Mexican cuisine to choose from, Patrick gives us a good reason to choose his. He presumes you are a novice cook, and gives clear directions for each step, in every recipe, with a photo to show you what the food you're working with should look like at that moment.This is by far the most approachable Mexican cookbook I've ever seen. Don't know what a Tomatillo is? Patrick explains and tells you how to shop for them. His uses Chiles commonly found in American supermarkets and explains which ones are right for certain dishes, and how to adjust the heat level to your taste.He starts small, with three essential sauces including Tomato-Jalapeno (Salsa Roja) and Tomatillo-Serrano (Salsa Verde). Then he introduces Sides, including rice 2 ways and Refried Beans. Then he brings in Chicken Tacos, Breakfast Burritos, a killer Roasted Poblano Quesadilla, and more. He includes what are arguably three of my all-time favorite Mexican foods, Baja Fish Tacos, Enchiladas Suizas and Pork Carnitas. Along the way, you're always building on techniques and using recipes you've already mastered. There aren't a lot of recipes in the book, but they're the essential ones, including Huevos Rancheros, Chicken Tacos, and the aforementioned Baja Fish Tacos, Enchiladas Suizas and Pork Carnitas.He's not Diane Kennedy, which is a good thing here. Her books are not for novices. Patrick's is, and when he's done with you, you'll have all the confidence needed to cook Mexican food in your own kitchen, using commonly sourced ingredients and the tools you already own.The price may seem high for a small ebook, but it's worth it. Patrick didn't cobble together a bunch of untested recipes from around the internet, he took the time to prepare and photograph each and every one, step by step. These recipes are the real thing. Mexican Craving is one of the best eCookbooks I've seen and if you want to learn to cook authentic Mexican food with confidence, there's no better way to learn, short of having a Mexican chef come to your home. I can't recommend it enough.The author provided a sample of the book in exchange for my fair and unbiased review.

I won't post it here cause I don't want to ruin it but felt like the flow of books was going one way then literally in the last 4 pages everything was undone and the author went another direction than what he was leading and hinting at. 2 stars. W a more appropriate ending it coulda been 3 tho.
