Great author!

Deputee Already submitted individual reviews for each book, but wanted to add a quick review for the collection. The trilogy is very good and I enjoyed reading each of the books, even eagerly awaited the publication of each book to begin a new saga in the series. Very well written, Daniel Arenson incorporates a good dose of humor into the intense drama of his dragon world.

By JLW I've enjoyed this author's Diaspora Worlds series and definitely her Refugees on Urloon, but this one felt so shallow. I didn't get the feeling of emotional depth from either the H/h. Wish there was a POV supplied for the H. Felt like the h was able to have sex with the alien waaay too easily, particularly for the 1950s.Lastly, there were a lot of grammatical and punctuation mistakes. It wasn't so bad that I couldn't figure out what was going on, but for a novella length that takes a couple of hours to read - come on, there's not that much text to edit. Plus, at $2.99 it's a little on the high side for such a short read.

Survivors are few and far between and in hiding. Debbie Sue and her nephew Bobby are among the remaining humans. They are out scrounging for supplies when they are captured by one of the aliens along with a dog that must have been scrounging also. Akarak is quite adamant that he doesn’t want to harm Debbie Sue or Bobby. “No harm. Harm bad.” Quite the opposite, he wants to help. And by the way, if a Human also wishes to help him……well, sex would be much appreciated.Alien Invasion, 1954 does not have a complex plot. There is no intrigue and no mystery. There are no deep characters. Debbie Sue and Akarak are as straightforward characters as you will ever read about. There is no moral commentary. Strike that. There is that thing about helping others. What Alien Invasion, 1954 does have is a plot right out of a 1950’s B-move. Which is exactly what the author intended it to be and is one of the reasons I like it!There are good aliens and bad aliens. Aliens and Earthlings. Females and males. Romance. Alien Invasion, 1954 is a light, quick read. Only about 60 pages. Despite the short length, there is a complete story to be enjoyed. And it takes place in the 1950’s which is kind of fun. I had to keep reminding myself of the year every time Debbie used technology in a world with out electricity. Remember manual typewriters and mimeograph machines?Ultimately, this story is a positive take on the invasion of Earth by aliens. As SFR readers, I think most of us want to get along with the aliens when they reach Earth. Aliens helping Humans makes Alien Invasion, 1954 a sweet story. Note that when I say ‘sweet’ I am talking about the story line. Not sexual content.Yes there is sex. Well, it is important to keep the hero healthy isn’t it? And to bring the heroine and hero closer together. And yes, there are tentacles, which I thought could be creepy. But it wasn’t. I don’t remember sex in any B-movies I ever watched, but books are always better than movies – aren’t they!Need a quick read for a cold evening this winter? I recommend Alien Invasion, 1954. By the way, there are dogs. Which always makes me smile.I was received a review copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.Originally posted at Smart Girls Love Sci Fi Romance.

This really wasn't one of this writers best books but it is a short and sweet novella By Teri Hicks I received this book in exchange for an honest review. This really wasn't one of this writers best books but it is a short and sweet novella. I had problems believing it was 1954 and how easy it was for this woman to become invested with the aliens. But I also liked that she was strong enough to work through the obstacles thrown her way. I would like to believe if it had been a full length book it would have had more depth to the characters and a stronger storyline.

The Raven (The Secret Chronicles of Lost Magic Book 1), by Aderyn Wood

Review When the power of ancient myths and superstitions in the Wolf clan deem a newborn infant an Outcast, only the brave convictions of the tribe shaman saves her from being used as a sacrifice. Iluna grows up shunned, and with powers she must keep hidden away. Is she the curse her people fear or is she the salvation they will desperately need to survive as dark magic and evil treachery threatens to stamp out the lives around her? When war threatens to devour those around her, Iluna must take a stand, but will it be enough to save those around her or will their fears and suspicions come to life?Enter into a fantasy world where primitive clans live their lives around faceless gods, superstitions and fear of anyone who is different. Follow Iluna's struggles, her loneliness and discover the powers she possesses as Aderyn Wood transports us into another time and place where magic takes on a dark or light calling in a classic battle between good and evil. The Raven is fantasy that feels epic, like there is so much more to learn living in the world created by Ms. Wood in future additions to this brilliant series. Wonderful world building, deep enough to whisk the reader away, characters that sometimes feel fuzzy, almost as if saying their relevance will soon be nil and in-depth detail on the "stars" of this series, Aderyn Wood has done a wonderful job of stamping her style on the world of fantasy! What I enjoyed most was the slightly different, reader-friendly approach, never relying on a strict use of old feeling language, but giving these people a language of their own, intermixed between contemporary usage and the feeling of "long ago." This is fantasy, fresh from the mind and heart of the author and it feels right!- Review by Dianne at Tome Tender Book Blog

Amazing World Building & Imperfect Characters By Reader's Hollow Several indigenous clans who rely on both nature and magic, are faced with a omen that they lay on the shoulders of an infant. There was a new system and fantastic world building that had me enthralled from the beginning to the end.Iluna's mother died during childbirth and was born on the wrong day at the wrong time. In these particular tribes, having no family labelled a person a tamatu, a kind of blight on the tribe. Her father having died months earlier, she was entrusted to the care of magic user. From here we watch her grow up being teased, bullied, but at the same time with a great potential for magic.I found myself really enjoying the story of Iluna's childhood. It helped to shape the character and those around her. Yuli, for example, always had things handed to him and in the end, he always wanted more and it shaped him as an adult. There was no room to question these characters, they were who they were. The world building is something I particularly loved. The author created a structure to the tribes. She made odd traditions believable, and titles easily understood without dumping it all on the reader. There wasn't a lot of action, but I felt there was no need for it. Iluna, Yuli, Anton & Izhur's stories and reactions to new threats were enough to keep me eagerly flipping the pages.Pacing throughout the novel was steady, catching a rhythm all the way up to the end. It doesn't end so much on a cliffhanger as there is more to Iluna's story to be brought to light and I hope to read the next book in the series when it comes out.CONCLUSIONWith a great foundation to the characters, and solid world building I was really impressed by this story. It also ended in a way I hadn't expected which gives it double the points. I think fantasy fans who like to be transported into a new world of magic will really enjoy this book.

A fascinating new world with an unusual background By Maddalena Tarallo 3,5 STARSI received this book from the author, in exchange for an honest review. When Ms. Wood contacted me about reading and reviewing her novel, I was immediately captivated by the concept of a fantasy story set in a primitive world where magic was part of everyday life: for starters it promised to be different from the usual medieval-like setting for the genre, and moreover I was always fascinated by the concept of people living in strict symbiosis with their world, to the point where occurrences like changing seasons or astronomical phenomena take a special flavor because of animistic beliefs. The Raven is all that, and more.Young Iluna comes into the world with a terrible stigma: her mother, whose hunter husband was killed by a wild beast, dies in childbirth, and Iluna is born on the darkest day of the year, when winter freezes the world and no light brightens it, since sun, moon and stars are absent from the sky. The highly superstitious Wolf clan elders rule to sacrifice her to the gods, in hope of appeasement, but Soragan Izhur - the tribe's shaman, you might call him - sees something special in her, a powerful light that indicates she's highly gifted, and manages to spare her life. Unfortunately, this means Iluna grows up as an outcast, shunned by everyone and looked on with suspicion because of her talents. The world-building in The Raven is quite fascinating: people live in clans named for their protective animal - wolf, bear, otter, and son on - and they meet at appointed times to renew their mutual allegiance, celebrate marriages and exchange goods, facing each time a long, harrowing journey that is however made with joy and expectation, thanks to the opportunity of visiting with old friends or long-lost relatives. Some of these clans live in caves, others build their dwellings on trees (like the Wolf clan), but they all share a faith in Ona, a sort of all-providing "great mother", represented in the real world by the Soragans, keepers of the faith and a conduit to the Otherworld - a different plane of existence accessed through each individual's Gift. There are many vivid descriptions of this idyllic background, and of the fascinating ceremonies reinforcing the bonds between the various tribes, that bring this world alive under your eyes, so that it's even more jarring when the proverbial snakes start making their appearance in this 'paradise'.The people of Ona can be warm and caring, but they can also be so blinded by their preconceptions and superstitions that they refuse to see what's in front of them, and even the Soragans - who should be a source of wisdom and an example for their charges - are not immune from these very human flaw. Even though Iluna's gifts are apparent to everyone, her tribe rather chooses to mark her as a witch, and to keep her on the fringes of society: what's interesting here is that she not only accepts this as her destiny, but manages to keep hold of a sense of self and dignity that's often beyond her years. And here is one of the details I most appreciated in this book: the depiction of young people without need for the almost-mandatory angst that's often employed in the shaping of younger characters.Back to the story, when danger approaches in the form of a cruel, warlike and previously unknown tribe that's leaving a trail of death and destruction in its wake, Iluna must call forth her much-reviled powers to remove the threat to her clan, and the way the novel pans out from this moment on is somewhat surprising, but pleasantly so, and paves the way to what promises to be an interesting series. This story is however not immune from some of what I've come to call my "pet peeves": the characterization is at times somewhat sketched, though I understand that it had to give way to the basic groundwork of laying the foundations of this world; the villains are a little predictable, now and then; there's a bit of romance that seems to happen all too quickly, and the last part of the story suffers a bit from a recurrence of details that are already known to the reader. Yet, all of this did not detract from my enjoyment of the story, because the pacing is constant and well-timed, the writing flows very naturally and the events kept me glued to the pages, making this one the quickest reads I can remember. The Raven comes out today December 1st , and it's the kind of book that's indeed worth exploring, for its different approach to world-building and magic: it will not be difficult to fall under its spell…

By Marian Thorpe In a Bronze Age world, a child is born on the first night of Ilun, eight days of darkness. Orphaned, outcast, she is marked for sacrifice, but the shaman defies the tribe's leaders to keep her alive. He has seen in her power beyond anything he has known, power the tribe may need some day. But will she be allowed to use it?This is the premise of The Raven, by Aderyn Wood. I read an advance copy of The Raven over the course of three days. I would likely have read it in one in my younger days, when the luxury of reading all day was possible, which should tell you how much I liked it. Wood has crafted a believable, internally consistent fantasy world, with strong characters. The story is a classic conflict between choosing and using magical powers of good and evil, and as such has similarities with other stories in the fantasy genre, but it is neither excessively cliched nor stereotypical. The tribal, semi-nomadic world that Iluna is born to bears some similarities to Jean Auel's Earth's Children series, and some to Guy Gavriel Kay's Dalrei in The Fionavar Tapestry. But these are similarities only; this world stands on its own. Unusually, much time in the book is given to Iluna's childhood (and therefore that of other key characters), a plot device which promotes both character development and world-building. In Wood's competent hands the dramas and conflicts of childhood are woven into the larger challenges Iluna's people face, and as the children mature, the complexity of those challenges increases, mirroring their understanding and role in them.As Iluna grows to maturity, the scope of her world grows too, and she realizes that her gifts may be of interest and use to her whole network of tribes, and not just her own. Her choices and behaviour are those you might expect from a young girl on the edges of her society but aware of her unique powers, adding to the plausibility – and the tension – of the plot.I had a few small niggles. There are a few wobbles in the consistency of voice, especially in dialogue, with modern sayings - “Stay safe” mixed in with archaic language - “...recent years have been ill-omened for us.” Wood uses 'mountain lion' in the first half of the book and 'mountain cat' in the second, apparently for the same species. And, perhaps most seriously, I found the description of the penultimate crisis, a battle scene, unconvincing, lacking in tension and broken by the statement “The fight wasn't over yet.” Here, I felt, the author forgot the writer's adage 'Show, don't tell.'Overall, though, The Raven earns a very solid 4 stars. It was an enjoyable read, and one that I really didn't want to put down. I don't say that about many books. Available from Amazon.Review by Amazon Author Marian Thorpe Empire's Daughter (Empire's Legacy Book 1)The author provided me with a pre-publication copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine alone.

By Amazon Customer I am an old soldier, disabled and long disillusioned that ANYTHING I was ever told to do while in service was even remotely honorable. The first short story really hit home, hard, but the SECOND one made me tear up...I look forward to the next book!

Too many times a series like this keeps trying to get bigger and bigger, more, more. If any one can pull it off, Rus can.

Ciardis Weathervane returned to the imperial court of Sandrin to unite her foes. But her efforts hit a stumbling block. The imperial kind. She never thought that before rallying an empire, she'd have to fight the emperor himself. An imposter sits the throne and the court she turned to for help is in turmoil. Ciardis hasn't survived assassination attempts, torture and really bad luck to be taken down by her own ruler. So she devises a plan. But first she needs to get Sebastian and Thanar to agree. Each seems to love her in their own way. But neither is listening to her. Pushing them to put aside their differences, in an effort to ward off catastrophe, might be harder than displacing an emperor who would do anything to keep his throne. Butting heads at court isn’t Ciardis’s only problem. With the princess heir’s threat looming she is forced to travel to the mythical city of Kifar, where it is up to her small group to stop the destruction of the entire city while heading a rebellion that could foment a revolution. It wouldn't be the first revolution that Algardis has ever known. But with Ciardis Weathervane at its head—it would certainly be the last. This fifth novel continues the story of Ciardis Weathervane from Sworn To Secrecy.

By Brandy Newkirk I've read all the Courtlight series to date, and I have to say that this story was good but I spent a lot of it feeling as thought the characters were playing a game of "Two steps forward, Three steps back." I really enjoyed the boxed set Courtlight #1-3 and was impressed with the idea, the fantasy, how the author merged mundane, magic, dragon and Court. This book needed to either be more developed or better edited. The main characters make little headway in their overall quests, get bogged down in smaller concerns and there seems to be a lot of bickering/infighting without a lot of actual character development. Even as young adults, they should be more mature and developed. If you can kill, lead others, direct a war, then you should not be so worried about how others see you or prudish in your personal behavior. No one spending any length of time around soldiers is going to be ignorant of sexual relations and as a possible Companion to a future Emperor, it should come up... especially if she's signing complicated contracts and getting married!! Perhaps the author could do more for the characters in the following books and I'll continue to read them because I'm invested in the world and really want to see if the war ends, the big bad is defeated, the fake emperor is deposed/exposed and how the Companion and Heir work at ruling their kingdom, however, I definitely want to see how they act as adults and if this author can make that transition with this series because I think it would also make an awesome adult and not YA series! Overall, looking forward to the next.

8 of 10 people found the following review helpful. I was a little bit disappointed with this particular book By AE I have to say it, I was a little bit disappointed with this particular book. I started earlier this week with the free Kindle download of Sworn to Raise. I tore through all 5 books in about 7 days. I was hooked! Non-stop plot twists and surprises! Sworn to Conflict was my first favorite, but Sworn to Secrecy- wow.So back to this book- Not much happened. There was a little bit of character growth. Not enough. The plot did not really progress. There was a lot of filler stuff. I actually skimmed through some sections.I think the other issue is- the author is at the point of the story where she has to grow it up a little bit or it will start to fall flat. The love triangle she is trying hard to maintain will NOT feel true, the relationship complexities between the three of them will not feel true- unless there is just a little more....(It can remain at the PG-13 level to keep it YA, but it needs to be there)Update (next day)- I correct my assessment a little bit. I went back and re-read my favorite parts of book 3 and 4 just for fun this morning. Its not that book 5 didn't have passion and excitement- it was definitely starting to develop- and then as soon as (Spoiler alert) they got engaged- it just stopped! The fifth book just suddenly died.(more spoilers) Thanar didn't really make any more moves on her - Why? I think that's what his character would be drawn to do. And Sebastian wasn't much Mad that she also shares a once-in-a-lifetime soul bond with someone else! REALLY?!I was expecting more buildup and more plot twists a the end (as in the previous books)- the first 40% of the book was the usual awesome! And then it just died. Its like she was filling space with stuff and delaying important things from happening until the next book- because now the series is supposed to end at 8 or 9 books instead of 5 or 6.Please, Ms. Edun! I know its a tall order but please bring #6 back to where we were at books 3 and 4. I need more adventure, romance, PASSION, plot twists, LIFE-threatening situations, and all the other good stuff that kept me glued to your books all of this past week.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. READ IT FOR YOURSELF! By Kerline Petitfrere I loved this book! I love how evident Ciardis' maturity is; yet her quirk and sense of humor still remain. Ms. Edun utilized suspense along with a plot that kept developing to new heights to keep readers like myself thoroughly engaged and reluctant to put this story down! I love how she incorporates Romance, interesting characters and a captivating alternate world where we as readers can lose ourselves and in my case, wish we were there to witness Ciardis' adventures. To say I look forward to the release of book 6 is an understatement indeed! I can't wait to see how the imposter on the throne is ousted, how 'Jason's' angle comes into play and I'd really like to see more of Caemon; mayhap a possible love interest for him as well lol. Ms. Edun has definitely outdone herself and I encourage readers to become apart of this EPIC fantasy saga as it is really really really fascinating!

Meet the Witches of Secret Hallow: A hidden village populated by friendly witches, their familiars, and a smattering of ghosts, ghouls, and elemental spirits. *** Gemma Ash is a techno-witch, which means that she gets along way better with computers than people. But who needs people anyway? She has her twin sister, Enid; their familiar, a drooling Saint Bernard named Bronson; and a creaky attic filled with computers that may or may not grow like vines under the loving care of her magic. What else could a girl ask for? Well, this particular girl is asking for donations to build a new school in Secret Hallow. Ethernet cables might grow on trees, but money, sadly, does not. One of Gemma’s online friends, FeistyFox95, is happy to donate a healthy wad of cash to the ComePayMe fund—in exchange for a favor. FeistyFox95 wants Gemma to cast a love spell. How in the world can an agoraphobic techno-witch find romance for one of her best online buddies? She’ll need to get help from the coven. She’ll have to collect ingredients that aren’t made out of fiberoptic cable. And—gasp—she’ll have to leave Secret Hallow to get a sample of FeistyFox95’s hair on the full moon. That last bit is scariest of all because Fox’s profile picture is uncomfortably attractive. The only question is what Gemma wants more: to be an eternally lurking hermit in her computer room, or to bring education to the witches of Secret Hallow at the cost of her privacy…and maybe her heart.

More than 3000 pages of apocalyptic fiction for a bargain price. This is Volume 2. Look for Volume 1 in the series for more great stories! Unfortunately an army of the undead, led by Charity Banks, very unhappy transplant to the west, have other plans for him. You Will Be Like God by Steve Stroble In 2095, being a parent is complicated but eliminating grandchildren is profitable. Bud Lee believes he has proof that his boss is plotting to decide Earth's fate by recruiting surrogate children into a think tank named The Club. Ink: Red, by Al K. Line The needle buzzed. The nightmare began. Strapped to a gurney, Edsel watched in horror as they tattooed his entire body bright red. His captors were overconfident; he escaped, only to be chased across the ravaged city. Numbers Game by Rebecca Rode Treena isn't sure she wants to be Rated anymore. This number will brand her forever. But Rating Day comes and her number is announced-and it shocks everyone. Swarmers by R. V. Doon A lethal virus with no known cure is awakened in a secret lab and goes airborne. Their world is forever altered, and the stunned survivors must keep fighting for their very existence. Thrown Away, Parts 1-3 by Glynn James Among the remnants of mankind it is thought that the strangers who live behind the barrier, inside their protected city, may still hold that secret. But no one taken by the hunters from the city ever comes back. The Flense: China by Saul Tanpepper A fiery train crash in northern China. A sinking off the Libyan coast. Villagers vanish in Ghana. Each event is preceded by the sudden spread of a mysterious ailment and is followed by the appearance of a man dressed in black and silver who witnesses claim is the devil himself. Zombie Maneuvers by Griffin Carmichael Before the world fell apart, Janet's life was already indistinguishable from Hell. In Connor, she'd thought she found a strong protector, someone who would take care of her. What she got was a brutal man who used and abused her. The Moon Dwellers by David Estes Seventeen-year-old Adele, a member of the middle-class moon dwellers, is unjustly sentenced to life in prison for her parents' crimes of treason. Against all odds, Adele must escape and find her family while being hunted by a deranged killing machine named Rivet. The Protectors by Ryan King It's been twenty years since the Great Plague. In a few months, Teal will turn sixteen and be able to Take the Chit from a Protector as so many have before her. Amazing Value By Paranormal Fan I love these type of collections that allow us to experience so many stories in one package and all for a fraction of the normal price. I am not finished with the entire collection yet but definitely enjoying what I have read so far. Excellent idea for a collection and very professionally presented. Highly recommended to fans of dystopian and post-apocalyptic genres.

12 of 12 people found the following review helpful. Great for binge reading By Charles A. Ray Apocalyptic Fears II is a collection of 12 tales of the world after things fall apart. The 11 authors featured in this box set are at the top of their game in the indie and small press world, with an assortment of stories of what the world might be like after devastating war, alien invasion, and other assorted tragedies. I’ve already read several of these tales individually, and liked them, but it was nice to have them all together in one place for the time when I feel like binging. It was a treat to re-read such stories as ‘And then There Were Giants,’ by Greg Dragon. This collection of extremely tall tales is a great read for fans of the genre. There is something for every taste, including a zombie western.Don’t miss out.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. A few jems in there By Melissa Quimby I found a few good stories in there, definitely an awesome find! I also found some new authors to follow. I love these collections because it's like digging for gold. There's something for everybody, and I don't feel guilty reading 3 pages of a story and moving along to the next if it doesn't suck me in.

Winner of Best Cover in the 2016 Pulp Ark New Pulp AwardsThe Dragon Lord's Library returns with ten all new stories. You can tell a lot about a dragon by their hoard. Not the shiny one, the other one. The one where they keep their favorite things. Some dragons keep a private stash of dwarven-wrought artifices, and others tapestries that run from wall-to-wall and corner-to-corner. The Dragon Lord himself has a library. A library that devours halls and caves, filling them with every kind of book and codex and scroll. These are the stories that fill his favorite shelf. Of course they’re his favorites—they’re all about dragons. Pull these stories down. Breath in the vanilla scent that only comes from the oldest books. Savor the writing. Trace your fingers over the calligraphy.Welcome to the finest library ever known. Featuring stories by Patricia S. Bowne, Shawn Hossein Mansouri, Silas Green, Rose Taylor, Edward Ahern, Elizabeth Hopkinson, Gregg Chamberlain, Liam Hogan, Sylvia Downes, and Sue Pettit. Edited by award-winning curator Nicole Petit.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. it's the best of the lot By Jim Lee 10 stories in this book, by 10 different authors. Predictably, it's a varied lot. They're evenly split between tales set in versions of the modern world and those taking place in more traditional medieval and/or fairy tale locales. Over half involve dragons that prove helpful to human characters, especially children. None is less than respectable in quality, though I certainly had my favorites. "Tied to the Whim of a Tender Tyrant" by Shawn Hossein Mansouri tells of an abandoned infant found by a dragon with an impulsively maternal side. For my money, it's the best of the lot. Other stories I particularly liked were ones by Elizabeth Hopkinson (wizard in fairy tale town needs a dragon's assist dealing with a troublesome witch), Liam Hogan (lighthearted tall tale about gold-craving dragons infesting Fort Knox) and Gregg Chamberlain (wry humor as a dragon finds herself forced to play "Matchmaker" for a spoiled princess and a bungling would-be hero). As mentioned, I didn't find a stinker in the bunch--but I was a bit puzzled by the 1st story in the anthology. "The Giant's Heart" is pure fairy tale in structure, about a not-too-bright giant who hides his heart in a golden sphere. His chosen hiding place is among the treasures of a dragon family's treasure hoard--but it soon goes missing and bounces from one location to another and another. An okay tale, really--but a slightly odd choice for this book--since otherwise dragons are the center of attention.

Some are better than others, but what the stories I don't like, you might like. I happen to have a special attachment to a story in volume one, but I have to say that overall this volume is better.

A wonderful springboard for conversation with my toddler, including the 'One Truth to Learn' 'One Verse to Say' and 'One Prayer to Pray.' I also really like the learning extensions in the very back of the books that include math, reading readiness, colors, etc. I read these to my toddler and plan to use them with her in our tot schooling/pre-schooling as she ages.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Oh no! Now I have to wait for tthe next April Grace book!!!! By Elaine LeDoux I am a complete fan of April Grace whose metaphors, similes and overestimates are truly delightful. I know this book in theory is for grades 3-8 but I am a long-time adult (otherwise known as an old fart) AND I see nothing in the April Grace series that any adult would not enjoy thoroughly. These books make for great chuckles, sweet moments, and adventure. April Grace says often that she's trying to be a better person. After reading these books I feel like they make me a better person....so thank you to April Grace and her wonderful writer KD McCrite. Another book well done!

By Brooke I've read the other April Grace's and I didn't even know there was a fourth until I saw this in the recommended for you section in the book store. I immediately bought it (for 3 dollars, I love how cheap they are) and read it in one day.I really wish I didn't read so fast, I don't know what to read next lol. I might like this book better than all the other ones, mainly because the others were all about Myra Sue's eating problems or her running away, Isabel's rude problems, grandma's boyfriend problems, or mama's pregnancy problems and this one was just about April Grace and her friend/family problems. It was really good, and I like how K. D. McCrite put it in the late 1980's cause that was cool. Everyone in these books are so realistic, you forget it's just a book. I would recommend this to girls ages 10-13. I'm thirteen almost 14 though, so maybe older kids might like it too. If you liked this and the other April Grace books then you might like Prairie Evers and The Education of Ivy Blake by Ellen Airgood. The main story is April Grace meets this knew girl in town, named Lacey. They start hanging out, and become friends right away. Then Grandma gets married and her husband's relatives come to town and stay with April Grace a d her family. They are all horrible mess makers, and of the 4 kids, Benji (who's 7), Brei (who's around 15),

It is filled with laughter and tears and I am so glad this one is finally available. K. D. McCrite writes from the heart and her writing reminds me of my grandmother's sayings and makes me miss the Sunday dinners after church. I hope there will be more of April Grace in the future....can't wait!
