My top picks were usually urban fantasy, paranormal best sellers, and of course, books featuring your classic gritty, pulp-fiction heroes. Basically, anything with a lot of creepy crawly supernatural characters: mythical creatures, ancient heroes, super villains, and gods. You will find that the stories focus on the ancient myths, characters, and stories we all know and love. Then twist them up and toss them back like an empty beer can.

Q: What order should I read the books in?A: I’ve written the series with the intent that they should be read in order to get the full effect of the bigger picture; however the stories can be read in any order if you are looking for a quick, fast-paced romp through Adrenaline-ville. The series just keeps getting better. Fans of classical mythology will appreciate the references throughout the book--especially since they are not overly explained. I like the level of intelligence and literary familiarity assumed by the author. It's also funny--the kind of "snort back a chortle of laughter in the middle of the night so as to not awaken the sleeping spouse who might chide one for reading until the wee hours" kind of funny. The main character, Nathan Temple, has been the star of the first two books. I am hoping to find out more about all of remaining cast of characters in subsequent books--or books just about them. Well done. Silvers is on my auto-buy list.

If you like magical fantasy, this one will keep you guessing. I tore through this, unable to put it down until I had finished. The characters are incredibly well developed and well rounded. There aren't any holes that leave you guessing about what is going on or confused in general. It's basically straight forward and in your face action all of the time! Hell, the first page starts you off with action all the way through the final page! I can't wait to continue the story!

This sequel builds upon the solid foundation that the first novel firmly cemented author Silvers as a voice to be reckoned with in the fantasy realm. Just pure bad ass fun.

Create your own walking, driving, or restaurant tour. You may not get some of the local known nuances of all areas and locations, but it's pretty close. I would buy again, or give as a gift to anyone going there.

It is like entering Narnia as Val takes you by the literary hand and leads you into beautiful Wallonia an area of Belgium. Val and her partner Koos travel with a venerable barge the "Volharding" which means "Tenacity" in English. Page by page Val weaves a descriptive tapestry of the area and of their travels. You can hear the water lap against 'Volharding's side, you can smell the coffee and almost taste the food. You walk with them along byways and peaceful paths the leaves from the fall trees crunching under your feet. You see her dog Sindy racing ahead .Val's descriptive writing is superb, whether it is a city or a quiet Walloon Way, you are there and your thought is 'I want to go there. Many people after reading this will put Wallonia on their bucket list. The Beatles had a song called "The Magical Mystery Tour" this book is a magical tour. Val even makes day to day things interesting. She mentions the up's and downs and there are far more up's than downs. The characters she and Koos meet troop past us like the cast of a Shakespearian play. This book destresses and my eyes were sore reading my Kindle late into the night I could not put this down. As winter hammers at the door curl up by the fire and get transported to a magical land as Val opens out the paths before you as only she can. This is quality stuff, transportation should not be this good.

For three years in the last decade, she and her chap, Koos (and le chien terrible, Sindy), spent their weekends in Wallonia, the French-speaking part of Belgium, on their barge Volharding, and this book tells me more about that country than anything else I've read; yes, it's more than 'just a place you stop and buy refreshments on the way to France'!I loved the descriptions of some of the places in Brussels, in particular; the run-down Bohemian atmosphere of The Marolles and the beauty of Parc Duden (yes, I'd like to live in either of those places, too!). Just her accounts of normal days during those many wonderful weekends made me go 'ahhh' with longing, and nostalgia for her, too, now that circumstances has made them a thing of the past.Many of Val's experiences can't have been fun (waking up to a canal with no water in it, Koos out on his own in a scooter in a blizzard, winter in a freezing on-board bedroom), but she relates them with the canal life, Belgian 'c'est la vie' attitude, if not humour, in this delightful tribute to a country she loves. If you have any interest in barge life, or indeed Belgium itself, I'd whole-heartedly recommend this book - but as with all of Val Poore's books, I'd recommend them to anyone, anywhere, anyway!

Didn't Want it to End By Author Stephanie Parker McKean As with all of author Valerie Poore’s books, there is a serious flaw in “Walloon Ways” – it ends.Valerie Poore’s childlike wonder and enthusiasm is contagious. If visiting Belgium, particularly Wallonia or Ghent, were on my bucket list I could now cross them off. I’ve traveled there through the sparkling pages of “Walloon Ways.” I’ve experienced the peace, beauty and magic of the country and the warm friendliness of the people. I’ve marveled over the contrasts and contradictions of Belgium with its understated tourist industry and fascinating network of waterways where people live on barges and tend gardens.The sheer romanticism of “Walloon Ways” kept my heart soaring. Written as a factual memoir of the three years Valerie Poore and partner Koos Fernhout spent as weekend residents on their barge “Volharding” (‘tenacity’), the story showcases the lives of a couple in love. So transparent is that love both throughout the book and in real life that an elderly man who passed them in a car stopped and opened the window. “Madame,” he addressed Valerie, “I must warn you. This man, he is in love with you. You must be careful of that.”Adding to the charm of the story is neurotic dog Sindy and the patience and understanding Valerie and Koos invested in transforming her into a barge dog.So is there anything negative or critical that can be said about “Walloon Ways”? Yes. It ends.

Very insightful introduction from the 1912 edition By A Customer E. de Selincourt's 1912 introduction is very insightful, and there's a useful glossary and critical notes in the back, which, unfortunately, make them cumbersome to access. The complete, original text is included, however, all in one book, making this a very worthwhile reference.

The author makes the main character do everything she can to comply with those who are supposedly her superiors with little or accidental result. She is snarky as well and by no means intimidated by beings that she should be terrified of. I found myself pulling for her. This was a fun read.

Nessa was a hoot to read, her inner dialogue never failed to make me laugh.I have to say, I didn't expect the ending at all! Don't worry, no spoilers here. I will be buying the other books in this series as well as seeing what else Clare has written.The story was funny, a bit of a mystery with plenty of magick, murder and mayhem. Pick up this book!

About the Author

Hans Augusto Rey was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1898. As a child, he spent much of his free time in that city's famous Hagenbeck Zoo drawing animals. After serving in the army during World War I, he married Margret Rey and they moved to Montmartre for four years. The manuscript for the first Curious George books was one of the few items the Reys carried with them on their bicycles when they escaped from Paris in 1940. Eventually, they made their way to the United States, and Curious George was published in 1941. Curious George has been published in numerous languages. And many, many Curious George books have followed.

Good, Bad, Great, Atrocious - This Book Has Them All By Pheel I know this will be a long review, but I felt I should look at each story separately as the best review.Story 1: Hello, HelloThis story struck me as something someone might write for a high school writing class. The characters were very superficial, and the story itself used foreshadowing that was so obvious, you might as well be hit over the head. The author seemed to be at least as interested in making the point that the family involved was a single-sex couple, rather than telling a story. Two stars, and I think that is generous.Story 2: The Machine StartsThis next tale is very high on the scientific end, going into the world of quantum computing. It posits some very interesting concepts about being in multiple places at the same time, and bridging between multiple universes. However, at least for me, the total lack of character development (being little more than names, with no history at all), kept me from getting into the story. There was also no story line that grabbed me. Three stars, largely for the attempt at trying to make quantum computing and quantum states remotely understandable.Story 3: Skin In the GameThe setting for this story in the entertainment industry makes this one slightly different. The main subject matter is the ability to record and play back emotions, connecting oneself with others. The main character, Neon White, is well developed and someone with whom the reader can connect. Most of the other characters, though, are quite flat with little back story. That is why the ending, at least for me, makes little sense and never brings about an "Aha!" moment. In fact, it seems to me that the story drops almost in mid-thought; no real ending. Three stars, mostly for the Neon White character. Little else made sense, and the lack of story resolution was not enjoyable.Story 4: Machine LearningThis story deals with Artificial Intelligence, and having a machine able to pick up on personality and emotional clues to learn about a person and improve educational methods. The main character, Evan, is extremely well developed, and one that the reader connects with deeply through his past tragedies and present life. Most other characters are far less developed, more like window-dressing to move the story forward. The climax of the story is decent, though the significance of it seems to be glossed over. This is another story without an ending, where the story is brought to a close so quickly the reader could get metaphorical whiplash. Four stars, though, largely for the portrayal of Evan. I only hope he is able to move on at some point.Story 5: Riding With the DukeWalter Peacock is a super-nerd, one with which much of the audience can identify. He is well written and developed as a "fish out of water" kind of guy. The concept here is putting oneself physically into any movie, TV show or other recorded situation, and the person essentially becomes anyone they choose, with voice and mannerisms to match. Walter's girlfriend, Diana, never makes much sense. She helps Walter develop as a person, but little is ever known about her, or even why she is with him. As in the previous two stories, the ending seems to fall flat, like the writer was not sure how to end it, so they just quit writing. Three stars at best for this tale, as the story just seems to be awkward all the way through and never hits its stride.Story 6: A Cop's EyeThis story is rather unique, being in a graphic novel or "comic book" format. That being said, the concept put forward here seems to be interactive AI, in the form of an information database system. A sort of police dispatcher with access to all area information, cameras, etc. It can even translate third-party foreign speech. The story itself is simple, dealing with a runaway teenager. However, the db system acts as a police officer's "partner", discussing cases and suggesting possibilities at any time. It keeps the human both informed and focused without jumping to conclusions. It also helps with knowledge about other area services, such as shelters and other support agencies. There is no character development at all in this story, but in this format, the story is informational rather than entertainment. Four stars for the unique method of getting across what the author wanted to say. The only downside to this genre is that a long story would not work very well.Story 7: Looking for GordoThis story deals with alien communication and AI helping to represent, learn, and translate how an alien might answer without directly speaking to that alien. Everything is developed through huge databases (Think the entire Internet). The story is set as a mock trial about whether Earth should actively send out communications rather than just listening (SETI). Emily, the main character, is well defined and helps explain much of the story. Few other characters are deeply structured, but it is not needed in this format. An interesting point is how two species might converse without common points of reference - perhaps the other species lives where there is no moon, or a social situation we might find appalling might be an everyday occurrence with that species. I found this story very enlightening and thought-provoking. Five stars for an entertaining look at a situation that could easily happen with inter-species contact.Story 8: The TellI find it hard to describe this submittal as a story; it is a combination of the musings of a self-proclaimed futurist, excerpts (both real and imagined) from other books and articles, and a small story about a Las Vegas magician supposedly being too good at his craft. The area dealt with is prediction, and whether (or how) a prediction engine might come about. The story itself is just a small part of the article; even much of that "story" involves the silent musings of the magician about prediction. I give this submittal one of my very rare one-star ratings. The writings might fit well in some philosophical tome on human behavior (and prediction of same), but not in a collection of science-fiction short stories. There really was no story.Story 9: Another Word for WorldThis final story is excellent. It deals with computerized translation systems and the problems that can occur with the nuances of language. This reminds me of what I always thought was a bit unrealistic during all the Star Trek shows. There are two main characters, both very well defined. The tension and interplay between the two are very well written, and the reader is pulled into the story. Five stars for this final story in the collection.Overall, this collection is about standard for short story collections: a couple of excellent stories, then the quality goes down from there. At least this book seems to be well spread out between the good and bad. A decent three stars for Future Visions.

Crazy to think that it came out of an event where Microsoft invited sci-fi writers to their research department.Best of all it's free! And will hopefully inspire future technology growth :)

Chang Interesting series of short scifi stories about the future of technology... How far can machine translation go? What happens if you create a feedback loop in a quantum computer? Can a translation error lead to everlasting war and how can that be reversed? These and more are the themes speculated upon in the series of stories sponsored by no less by Microsoft by famous authors. They present an interesting future and speculation about how far the current tech can go, and what are the implications on life and society when it happens. And it's free. So if you like scifi stories that makes you think, read this collection.

Ponderous and pointless By Tghu Verd Two characters, separated by distance and the weirdest communications limitations ever for a future-set sci fi novel are not enough to support the inherent mystery that is supposed to drive the plot. And especially as Modesitt has done this better before.So, we have the "discuss morals by letter" dynamic from The Imager Portfolio coupled with the inscrutable alien tech from The Eternity Artefact. But where those novels have a cast of characters, here we only have two...and they are pretty bland, for all that we get into their heads. Both are essentially friendless, solitary hermit types who do not do much except think and send poetic quotes to each other. Fair enough, Modesitt limits their physical environments, but if that was supposed to concentrate the essence of the point he was trying to make, well it failed for me.Not much actually happens in the main - even as really interesting things are happening offscreen but we only get snippets of them - and for some inane and not really explained reason, off-earth communication does not contain images or video. It's text only, like we're back in the 70's. Indeed, I wondered whether this was a reissue of an earlier work but other aspects were up to date, so I guess not.Now I expect a degree of ponderous discourse in a Modesitt book. But this seems lazy and ultimately pointless. The whole thing is emotionless, even as the world teeters on the brink of oblivion and people die. So, too expensive and too tedious, I cannot recommend it.

So, take this with a grain of salt.Mr. Modesitt writes in what I consider three major styles: * Hard Fantasy -- Recluce Series, Spellsong -- magic with rules and energy costs * Hard Science -- Solar Express -- lots of physics and science * Soft Science -- Parafaith series -- in space, but the characters do 'strange' stuffThis is very much in the Hard Science realm. If you are primarily a Fantasy reader, you will probably not like this story.We are following three different characters in this novel: * Dr. Wong -- an astronomer on the far-side of the moon. * Captain Tavoian -- a FusEx (space) pilot * The culture -- personified by various news feedsHow you feel about this novel will correlate very closely about how you feel about the news feeds. Dr. Wong and Capt. Tavoian are very career focused and are written that way. I believe these two thematic choices drive the acceptance or rejection of the novel. Again -- read the free sample.I liked the story, all three of the characters and the discussion between Dr. Wong and Capt. Tavoian. Modesitt, Jr borrows from the classic Rendevous with Rama for a tale set a century from now that is unlike anything he has written before. Alayna Wong is on a post-doc as the only person at COFAR, the large telescope on the ar side of the moon. She spends her time doing research, repairing the giant array, and writing to her parents and the pilot who piloted her to the moon, Christopher Tavoian. Then an object on a cometary orbit, turns out to be manufactured. At a time when the Sianese are flexing their muscle in space and threatening India, Noram stands apart. Chris is selected to investigate the object using robots on a solo expedition. The Sianese launch a month later with a larger crew and actually land on the object, labeled Solar Express (hard from Tor) because it is actually moving faster than predicted. This is a quiet tale of normal scientists working with a strange object. Despite little action, I found the tale fascinating. I hope it gets nominated for some awards. The Envoy tossed itself at the world. An ambassador’s business had left it stranded on the moon for years and decades. During all that time it tried to patch together a return capsule from Soviet equipment abandoned on the surface. But this had never actually worked, and now it needed to hurry, so it gave up on the capsule and built a cannon instead. Then the Envoy aimed itself and its cannon at the world. This was not the tricky part. Moving through vacuum for several days was not the tricky part either. The Envoy had no ship, no craft, no transportation. It had only itself: the spherical, purple transparency of its own substance. It clenched its outer layers, becoming glass-like to bounce radiation away and keep itself from dehydrating. But it remained clear enough to let light in. All of it was sensitive to light. It was its own big, purple eyeball. The Envoy watched the approaching planet with all of itself, and enjoyed the view. The nightside of the globe grew large ahead. Constellations of bright and artificial light stretched out across landmasses. The Envoy expected to land in Russia again, or possibly in China, but North America stretched out below it. The first hints of atmosphere scraped against its skin. The Envoy winced. This was going to hurt. This would be the tricky part. The Envoy became a blind eye, opaque, closing itself and all its senses. The view was about to become too searingly bright to appreciate. Air turned to plasma against the friction of the Envoy’s passage. It shed several layers of scorched self. Then it slowed down by expanding, thinning its substance against air currents like the stretched skin of a flying squirrel or a flying fish or a flying squid. It became its own parachute—though it didn’t slow down nearly as much as a real parachute would have. The Envoy tumbled into a rough glide. It became transparent again, letting light pass through it, trying to see where it was going and what it was falling toward. It failed to see very much. The Envoy smacked into a small pond in an urban park. The noise and splash startled several geese, ducks, catfish, and turtles. It sank into the mud and muck at the very bottom and felt itself gradually cool, losing the sting of impact. It needed time to collect itself—though not literally, for which it was grateful. Its substance remained in one single piece. A few curious fish tried to nibble the Envoy. It tried to ignore them. Then it made a limb and shoed them away. Finally it stretched out and relearned how to swim. It had been a long time since the Envoy had lived in an aquatic environment, but now it remembered how to wave and ripple like a manta ray. It swam up to the surface of the pond. There it carefully observed the shore, the surrounding park, and the playgrounds. The Envoy spent many days floating and recovering from planetfall before it noticed Gabriel Sandro Fuentes.

By S Modern day Minneapolis finds Gabe Fuentes babysitting his two younger siblings at the playground and surreptitiously chatting with his best friend. They aren’t suppose to be chatting. After all, their last get together involved a home made rocket and a small fire. Essentially, they have been grounded from each other for at least the summer. With a heavy heart, Gabe heads home with the twins in tow to his parents and his older sister. His parents are Mexicans that met in India and their homecooking is a fusion of the two cultures. Yum!But I digress. You want to hear about the aliens. OK, so Gabe has an assortment of small unwanted pets he took in – a little fox, a bird, a lizard. And one night this sock puppet being pops into his room for a chat. He is Envoy and he is looking for a likely candidate from Earth to act as an Ambassador for the entire planet at the galactic assembly. Gabe is naturally intimidated by the offer but decides to give it a go anyways. Envoy proceeds to the basement where he uses odd bits and the clothes dryer to create an entagler to send the entangled Gabe to the galactic assembly. There Gabe becomes a target for at least one assassin and has a mystery to figure out. Meanwhile, back home his parents are facing deportation (since they are in the country illegally).I loved this book. I really enjoyed William Alexander’s Goblin Secrets and Ghoulish Song but this is a new level of excellence from him. While suitable for all ages, it had a certain refined intensity that makes this my favorite Alexander book to date. I loved the multicultural aspect as so many SFF novels have Caucasians as the focus of the story. The Mexican-Indian cultural fusion of the Fuentes household, set in Minneapolis, reflects the real life I know and enjoy. Plus, I now want tasty curry tamales. Gabe’s awareness of this cultural diversity(with both the pros and cons of it) give him special insight for his new role as Earth’s Ambassador.In the Galactic Assembly, the Ambassadors get to know each other through play. I thought this was a great point as well as allowing for fun and awkward moments. The author did a great job of capturing different approaches to communication from the various alien envoys, and also Gabe having to puzzle out the least familiar attempts at communication. Plus there is this nomadic warrior race that travels the galaxy dominating or annihilating any other alien race they come upon. They too have an Ambassador at the Galactic Assembly.Pretty soon Gabe has lots of concerns. Someone is trying to kill him and he thinks it is another Ambassador. Plus his parents are facing deportation for being in the country illegally. I found these scenes particularly poignant as Gabe is trying to save himself, potentially the world, and now his family in particular. So much on one young man!The ending was satisfying. It tied up the overall plot arc but left some questions open for a sequel (and I really do hope there is a sequel).The Narration: William Alexander narrated his own story, as he has done with his other works. Once again, he was amazing. I have lived in New Mexico for over 2 decades and Alexander’s Hispanic accent for Gabe and his family was very believable; he didn’t over do it as so many non-Spanish speakers will at times. I also loved his various alien noises he had to come up with from time to time. He has clear distinct voices for both the male and female characters. In short, he is a joy to listen to.

The Aliens Are Coming and They Will Make You Laugh By PDXbibliophile Ambassador is a quick action packed fun read, yet it has a surprising amount of depth as well. Gabe Fuentes is a normal middle school kid from a normal hard working family until the day he is visited by a purple blob from another galaxy just a few hours before his parents are arrested by ICE. Gabe needs to figure out how to save the planet and save his family. His purple blob mentor is not very good at preparing Gabe for his new job as Earth's ambassador to a council on intergalactic affairs. He is an earnest teacher, but he is more ambitious than competent. The blob's frequent mistakes are hilarious. The blob does a better job of protecting Gabe from a mysterious alien assassination plot. Neither the blob nor Gabe can figure out why someone wants Gave dead. He hasn't even started his new job. I loved how William Alexander seamlessly has Gabe see the comparisons between our immigration struggles and the aliens struggles to survive. Gabe sees himself as a Harriet Tubman and sincerely wants to do right by the aliens, but he has to do it quickly, so he can get home to help his mother figure out how to stop her deportation. The ending of Ambassador is abrupt and obviously set up for a sequel to pick up right where Ambassador ends. I am sure middle grade readers will be excited for the sequel.

That proved impossible. This book is stuffed with science but never dry, proving that the best sci-fi is always a work of the imagination. It's also as funny as any middle grade book I can remember. In short, YES to this.

To be honest when I see ARC reviews I'm skeptical of how honest these reviewers are seeing that they got the book for free. I got this book for free but promise you my honest opinion.This box set contains four stories of a team of soldiers from earth away on a mission. After a treaty has been signed between Earth and the Qui, their Queen sends her people to find and return these soldiers to earth.This is my first time reading Kayla's books and I'm really impressed. The stories between the main characters is not your average love story. The soldiers have been through a lot and have issues with aliens... any alien, enemy or rescuers. They work through these issues in the most erotic ways imaginable. Kayla writes extremely well and draws you in until the end. The stories are short but you never feel cheated.

When I realized a boxed set was available, I figured I'd repost my reviews here in case they are of any help.Release By Treaty:I wish I'd read the prequel first, otherwise, solid 4 star enjoyable read.I wish I had read Under By Treaty first, not so much because I felt I was missing key plot points, but I have a nagging feeling there is a lot of great world building in that book that would have answered some questions I had as I read this story. Things, for the most part, sorted themselves out and made sense to me by the time I had reached the end, but there were still a few things that I think would have instantly clicked into place had I read the prequel first. (I saw this was book 1 and read it, without thinking to look for a prequel, when I started seeing references to 2 other characters who have a relationship I clued in I should have looked a bit further.)That said, I enjoyed the emotional conflict for these characters. Dol'ce knows Marcel has been abused, tortured, seen countless people die -- and all at the hands of people who are like her. How can he look at her and see something other than the enemy? And yet they are drawn to one another... for me this was a great story about remembering to view people as individuals... look beyond assumptions, prejudices etc, and approach each being as the individual they are or could be.Restrain By Treaty:Appearances Can Be DeceivingBea doesn't know Ardant is a shapeshifter who has taken on a human appearance after realizing the thousand and one things she has every right to hold against his species and other similar aliens. Be a was a prisoner of war, she doesn't know the war is over, a treaty has been signed, that the Qui are nobles and not their enemy... or who this being that rescued her from a living shell is. But the have 30 ship-days before they get where they are going, and that is plenty of time for Be a to try and figure Ardant out, and for Ardant to discover a few truths about fragile human woman.I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review, and really enjoyed it as a third story in this series, in part because this time the human was a woman, which shifted some of the dynamics and expectations.With each book the story continues to move forward, though at this phase Marcel's team is being gathered... so I find I am particularly interested in the characters at this point, with hopes there will be a book about their eventual return to Earth. (In large part because I am desperately curious about how such a book would unfold.)In every book of Kayla Stonor's that I have read, I have been struck by the inner strength of her characters, and Restrain by Treaty was no exception.Hunted by Treaty:Seeing yourself through another's eyes can sometimes help you learn to accept all of yourself.Crendea is half human, half alien... not only is she something Tyrone has never seen before, that Alien half comes from a species he has been at war with for most of his adult life.Like the other stories in this series, a prisoner of war doesn't know a treaty has been signed, and the war is over. Each POW reacts in their own way, and is found in different circumstances... in the case of Tyrone not only do we see his inner strength from the start, but also his physical strength and determination.I received this story from the author's newsletter, and wanted to post an honest review, in part because each story captures the sense of military service, touches on PTSD, and subtlety works in a lot of moments and character traits such that I come out of even a short novella that was a fast paced quick read feeling like I just read an entire book full of wonderful characters dealing with some very real issues in some extraordinary ways and places.Submit By Treaty:Commander Meseri shows Zeus how to take control of the things he fears and his memoriesCommander Meseri is a Qui (Alien) who was introduced in the previous book, which gave her a chance to see some human relationships, and begin to understand we do things our own way. She is charged with safely transporting Zeus Windsor, an escaped POW who probably doesn't understand the war is over, back to Earth, by way of a meet-up with the rest of his unit. Zeus happens to be in the midst of killing every Alien who gets near him when the story begins - but as I said, he doesn't seem to know the war is over, so still fighting makes sense.This is an interesting PTSD story, in part because Zeus has a variety of triggers and fears to face, doesn't know who to trust, and some of his former fellow soldiers are triggers as well - simply because he can't separate them from the events after they were all captured.His struggle to work through the traps in his own mind, to find better ways to react to certain things, and healthier ways to think and live made this a compelling installment in the series. Add to that forward progression on the major story arc of relations between Earth and the Qui, and I can't wait to read they next story in the series.I was gifted with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

By Ariel Mathis for Always Love Me Some Books Blog *A complimentary ecopy was given by the author in exchange for my honest review.*I’ll begin by saying that I have developed a girl-crush on Kayla Stonor. Hehe. The woman made me blush. I really didn’t think that possible, I mean I’ve read some kinky stuff before but damn!! Then she tosses in the pain is pleasure vibe and I was hooked. Each story is different. I think what really got me, was the whole concept….Humans, unknowingly, giving off pheromones that attract these Aliens to us, & vice versa. How freakin’ neat is that? Made me ask if it could be a possibility, you know, in a galaxy far, far away. But seriously, I mean us, as a species, have barely reached the moon, yet, are we really alone? When you look up at a starry sky don’t you wish to know if there’s something more out there? It goes deeper but that’s neither here nor there. The question is, can these handful of soldiers who went out and fought for their home planet, Earth, only to get captured, tortured, and even killed, come back from the brink of insanity, with the help of the Aliens who want Peace between their species? Would you really be able to co-exist with said Aliens, knowing their kind have done what they done to your home, and to them? Now let’s keep in mind that the Aliens give off their own pheromones, and they’re shapeshifters. And when these soldiers each meet their rescuers, it’s like how Winnie The Pooh loves Honey, lol. Or cats in heat. A fat kid and cake. It’s hot, though. Kayla makes it real HOT!! Their true forms remind me of a faery or even like a fallen angel, but with scales and they’re either blue or green or blue-green, I especially love the wings!! Zeus thought Meseri was an angel. Speaking of Zeus, in his story, I felt like I understood the psychology of that better than Bea’s story. However, in messed up situations like these, it’s hard to say who had it more messed up than who. In each story, you see all of them still trying to cope with what had happened to them. As traumatic as it may be, their recovery was also sexy and even on the sweet side. I really liked how each story tied up. It wasn’t a dragged out ordeal, where you lose interest. It holds a steady pace and you can tell how the author’s writing gets better from each story. Each book was a bit longer than the last, and as she improved, the stories did as well. You want more. I’ll always remember this series for for it’s uniqueness because the whole concept makes you question things inside your mind. I know, I know, It’s fantasy, but why not question things? And who says it can’t be dark and sexy at the same time?
