So much history By Kristy Heinicke I received an ARC of "Zenko" from the author, in exchange for an honest review.Oh my goodness, Zenko is the first book I've read by J. Rose Alexander, not knowing what I was in for I started this book. Just the prologue alone had me HOOKED. 'Zenko' is J. Rose's installment for the "Woodland Creek" collection, a collaboration of 30 authors all writing about 1 little town in Indiana USA, I was intrigued with the concept behind this collection. As I previously stated just by reading the prologue I was HOOKED, it intrigued me, I HAD to find out just how the Tsukino family make it to Woodland Creek present time... as this story starts off 70 odd years in the past. Filled with history, old world beliefs, customs, sadness, steamy scenes, action... a couple of strong leading females.... then add in mini gods, shifters, magic & a mystery. That ending was bitter sweet, filled with happiness & sadness.Totally FLOVED this story, I want to read some more from J. Rose Alexander. Also I can't wait to read what the others have written for the "Woodland Creek" collection.

First I have to say 2 things: 1- I've mainly been an avid wolf shifter fan and 2- I have never read this author before, but OMG, I loved this totally different style of shifter story and now I can't wait to read more from Ms. Alexander :D I went into this very hesitant & repeatedly told myself to keep an open mind, and then bam! It pulled me right in from the beginning & held onto me until the end, and then left me craving more! I actually read it in 2 sittings coz I did not want to put it down!... Since I never recap stories or give spoilers in my reviews, all I can say is that if you love fiction, and especially paranormal and love trying new books, you absolutely have to get his page turning must read! ... Even tho I was given this to read in exchange for an honest review, I truly loved it and highly recommend this book and author! *** This is an adult fairy tale at its best, and would be an amazing movie! ***

Many layers wrapped up in the tale of the spirits, worth the read By Kim Zenko had me a little confused while starting the prologue and I had to start it over a couple of times. I am glad that I stuck with it and got past the beginning. Once I got into the main part of the story, it was worth it. To understand not only what a Zenko was but the history of the family and the issues they had to face since leaving their homeland was real. While the current day story mainly revolved around saving a woman lost in the woods, there were a few different levels of love and relationships going on. Ava and Blaze are the young generation. It was sad to see that Blaze had such a neglectful life that he wasn’t happy. And yet to watch him bloom, it was a nice change of pace from the normal gal that is developing herself. The sweet romance between Ava & Blaze was young and innocent. It was also good to see that love doesn’t have to be just for the young either.
