Holloway has taken the traditional role of werewolves in fiction as terrifying, out of control creatures of the night and transformed them into (mostly) cuddly, pack-oriented people. The result is a touching tale about coming together and making a family. The plot is gripping and takes several sharp turns that will have you gripping your seat, but the real stunner here are the relationships. From start to finish, every interaction glows with emotion, with kindness and caring, with anger and tension. Nearly every character is relatable and compelling, and their reactions to the strange situations they've been thrust into certainly feel realistic, whether they react with cheerful sarcasm, traumatic confusion, or ruthless protectiveness. Also well worth mentioning is the wonderful representation that occurs here. With trans/lesbian moms, intelligent yet pretty teenage girls, a chubby Hispanic best bud, and more, there's truly something here for everyone to identify with. One can only hope that this will be the start of a long and excellent series.

I sincerely hope that this is the beginning of a series as these characters are intriguing and I would love to see how they evolve especially Puck and Conner.Spoilers I guess (just to be safe)To me the most interesting parts about this book were the fact that the main character wasn’t the person bitten by the werewolf but the best friend and that the werewolves were tactile creatures without the sexual overtones that are prevalent in some novels.

On one hand, I think I suffered from a lot of interference: I really wish I could have read this book without having a lot of the foreknowledge that I do because of reading Coming Undone.That said, this is a wonderful book. Even having read a lot of it before, this story still brings new things to the table. Delaney has become a favorite character for me, and I really am interested the development of her and Puck's friendship. The relationships in this book really shine in a very interesting way: we know some of these people are friends and have known one another for years, but there's a palpable feeling of something real and meaningful being built between them all in a way that hadn't happened between them in the past. There's a newness to their connection that really makes it beautiful.I enjoyed the book quite a bit and can't wait to see where this will go!
