I rarely review books because I'm too busy reading to bother but half way through this novel, I had to stop and type this long winded review. Pavement Ends is one of my new favorite novels. The story line is fascinating and the editing is spot on. The characters are believable and Mr. Gepner does an amazing job of fleshing out their personalities. After reading this particular genre of fiction for so many years, a lot of the individual scenarios tend to feel like repeat stories but this book has kept me guessing what comes next. I find myself racing through the story and being surprised at the way it unfolds which is what makes books so engrossing! The surprises are original and imaginative and I can only say I hope Mr. Gepner continues with these characters and their stories. I will be watching his author page for new releases. Great story!

Don't waste your time By Michael Fronczak I hate to crush authors that obviously put in a lot of time & effort into their work, but this book...it's just...bad. And poorly written. The dialogue between characters made me cringe. The lack of research (as other reviewers have mentioned) is glaring, and there is too much that "just happens", usually when the writer can't come up with a plausible explanation.Perhaps worse than the story/plot/lack of research is the general writing. Sometimes, less is better but every statement or conversation is punctuated with some some sort of descriptive word that seems to have been added just because. The whole "show, don't tell" thing doesn't exist in this book. It interrupts the flow (what little there is) of the story, and reminded me of stories that I read as a kid in grade school. I don't think the author could adequately convey feelings and emotions without spoon feeding the reader.
10 of 10 people found the following review helpful. It could've been so much better By Robert Sisk I wanted to lime it. I really, really did. There were too many visual details. They kept getting in the way of the story. Readers don't need to know where everyone put their hands, their body positions when they spoke, etc. The dynamics between the families were so bazaar. The conversations were just as choppy and scattered. I did like the scientific explanation of things. But I just couldn't get into it at all. Plot was good, just overshadowed by randomness.
