1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Can love tame a wild wolf that eats animals and villagers? Neat story. By Rob Natiuk The writing and illustrations capture the feel of the world St. Francis lived in. They are simple but rich in color and subject matter. The author positions this story well, helping youngsters go way back in time, tying modern times to olden times. But to do this well is tricky. For a few pages, we are jarred back and forth between today and "back then." For instance, the author mentions "small pigs in brick houses." That distracts from the flow of the story. But then we get into the story of the lone wolf who ate the village's animals and even a few people. What's the solution? How can St. Francis reconcile wolf and people? Ah, that's the story of a miracle! I believe, as I did, you'll enjoy discovering that wondrous event.
