About the Author The author is huge fan of action and science fiction films and all things tech. Phenomenal stories and vocabulary By Alicia Although my seven year old daughter has just finished reading this book, giggling several times throughout. We have only scratched the surface in looking up all the phenomenal vocabulary words! We had so much fun her first guessing the meanings and then us together looking it up. There is chapter in particular that she read at least 5 times!I loved the imagination of the stories, some reminded me of Van Alsburg books. And best of all we are so lucky that the author will be at our school book fair next week to do book signings!

First, it's fun, adventure, and (shhhhhh- don't tell the kids!), education on every page. Each chapter addresses a specific noteworthy date, a different place, a historical fact, and a different scientific concept from laser to bioluminescence to magnetism and more so, while your child reads, he or she will be introduced to concepts that are associated with a story which will make them more likely to be remembered since the chapters are so well written. I love the use of underlining to make it easy for the reader to identify and look up new words. I believe that this book would do very well in the classroom, especially the HOME SCHOOL classroom where the lessons can be explored in depth. I know students would really enjoy this book and look forward to the sequel as much as I do!! Dr. Widrich, you have hit a home run, no, a grand slam here! Well done!! I will be ordering 2 more copies to give as Christmas gifts.
2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. A great read that is a solid hit with the 6-13 year old crowd- enjoyable fun stories for expanding a young mind! By Edward Maybury My 10 year old son and I read this. It is highly entertaining, and he thoroughly enjoyed it. We read a chapter a night, with me only rarely giving in to his nightly requests to read the next chapter- I was trying to extend our time reading it together and knew this was the only book. He keeps asking me when the next book is coming out, which is the best testimony any children's book can ask for! I think it reaches best the 6-13 year old age range. I'm not sure what makes some books grab a young reader's attention while others miss, but this book clearly hit the mark for my son. The stories are wholesome, the vocabulary and content will expand your child's intellectual frontiers, and most importantly it's just an enjoyable read to share with your child!
