Well written and highly recommended By Tina Johnson The lead character, Will, is half man/half angel and an enormously sympathetic character who hooks you into the story within the first few paragraphs. James’ writing makes you really empathize with the characters, and she crafts a well-paced story that keeps you hanging tight to find out what happens. The descriptions are very vivid, picturesque, allegoric, thematic and colorful. James writes with a catchy turn-of-phrase, such as this example: “Will backed away, and found himself connecting with the soft, warm, female flesh of two semi-naked teenage models with stars in their eyes and sex in their fingertips.”She's also a really good story teller. And anyone who successfully uses the word “autoclave” in a romance novel--or even knows what one is--wins points in my book. The story is a bit rough around the edges in a couple places--I think she recovered the material from her high school days, she says--but in the hands of the right editor, James would probably really shine and have unlimited potential. On the downside, there is a need to get past a few of the cliches in the story. Also, the ending was super-predictable, reminiscent of the headlines of December 1980. The characters could also be developed a little more deeply with more showing rather than telling, but regardless, you still feel for them and love them anyway. With more time and experience, James could easily switch back and forth successfully between romance and erotica. She writes both genres really well.If this is her “debut” novel, then James has a very bright future ahead of her. I would love to see her do screenplays and movies, as I think books are too narrow and confining for her talent--definitely mass market material. Read “Seraphim Song” and see for yourself, and so you can say you were one of her fans from the beginning, before she hit it big.

Left in limbo on earth, he’s destined to spend his nights alone after performing in the biggest rock band in the world—but is this mortal woman the one who might change everything in Will’s life? The main characters—Will and Julia are a perfect romantic fit. Plus, author Pandie James are created two people who are interesting, making the reader care what happens to them. The appearances of the devil himself were exciting, as well.I was initially drawn in by the prose. The description mentions Poppy Z. Brite and James’ writing is reminiscent of Poppy’s wonderful Gothic short stories from the late ’80 / ‘early ‘90s. I was hooked from page one. I will be on the look out for more from this author. If you love strong Urban Fantasy with gorgeous descriptions, download this one now!
