From School Library Journal Gr 1–4—The traditional song is enhanced with meticulous and elegant illustrations in black and white, plus intense pops of red, green, and gold. Lovely, lacy cut paper details pay homage to the mid-19th century, when the song was originally written, culminating in a beautiful (but quite fragile) pop-up finale. VERDICT This one is definitely for display or careful one-on-one sharing, not for public circulation.—Mara Alpert Los Angeles Public Library
Review An exquisite interpretation of the ever popular Christmas song "Jingle Bells" is a companion piece to Puttapipat's stellar edition of The Night Before Christmas (2007)...this is a lovely version of the beloved song that could be used by an adult reader to mesmerize a young audience.—Kirkus Reviews (starred review)Delicate cut-out shapes (such as the "skyline" of the town) and restrained use of red, green, and gold accents give the book a polished, sophisticated presence, while a final pop-up, featuring an enormous Christmas tree flanked by builds and revelers, concludes the book (and the song) on a celebratory note.—Publishers Weekly (starred review)The traditional song is enhanced with meticulous and elegant illustrations in black and white, plus intense pops of red, green, and gold...This one is definitely for display.—School Library Journal

As a couple loads a sleigh with presents and a tree to visit relatives for Christmas, you can see the lights in the buildings of the town and watch the buildings pass as you turn the pages. This version of JINGLE BELLS ends in a magical pop-up scene at the end that reveals all the characters and buildings in the story together. JINGLE BELLS (A Magical Cut-Paper Edition) is a great book for anyone who likes art and Christmas or anyone who likes pop-up books.

A holiday treasure By Janet Hamilton Summary: The first verse of this famous song, written by James Lord Pierpont in 1857, is illustrated with beautiful silhouette drawings depicting a couple on their way to Christmas dinner. Not surprisingly, their vehicle is a one-horse open sleigh, complete with green Christmas tree and red sack of gifts, which stand out as bright spots in the mostly black and white illustrations. Alternating pages have delicate cut-paper illustrations, with a grand finale pop-up showing people gathered in around a Christmas tree in front of a snowy village. 12 pages; all ages.Pros: The beautiful artwork that will make this a holiday treasure to enjoy year after year.Cons: The conspicuous absence of Miss Fannie Bright.

Beautiful detailed pop up- best for older children By BrittyMama This book takes the lyrics from the much loved song "Jingle Bells" and illustrates it in mostly black and white classic silhouettes with some green/red/gold accents. There are 6 full pages in total (well, 12 or 6 depending on how you count a page) and each page features a section that is cut out- from windows in the town to space between the trees. The real showstopper, however is the pop-up finale that is stunning. The detail is just fantastic- you can see the wrinkle in people's clothes and the feather on a woman's hat. If you can appreciate a good pop-up, you'll love it.However, though the age range that is recommended is 4-8, I have to disagree. This book is beautiful, but I don't think a 4 year old would appreciate the art that it is and because of the detail work it would get destroyed pretty quickly. The best audience would be a slightly older child (or just one who is very gentle on books) or someone who loves pop-ups.
