A Fresh New Look at Alien Encounters By Thomas Sturm Steven Hoefer manages something quite wonderful with this book - a fresh, new story with unique characters, human and otherwise, in the "first contact' science fiction category.Benjamin Taylor is an instantly sympathetic main character that is thrown into first baffling and then increasingly alarming adventures during the first contact of humanity with a group of alien species.It's hard not to spoil the book and still provide a deep review. Many of the ideas in this book are very fresh and the aliens as well as their technology is something never before seen in this crowded genre. The story is a roller-coaster ride that takes the reader along into the alien ships and focuses on several humans and their struggle to make sense of the sheer alienness of the technology and culture of the visitors.Well worth reading and a pleasure for the science fiction fan that thinks they've seen it all!
