The writing is so poor I would believe that English is a second language for the author if I hadn't read the bio blurb, and surely a professional editor never saw the manuscript. I believe this book must be self published.
9 of 11 people found the following review helpful. go back to drawing board By Amazon Customer This book sadly is one of the worst examples of BAD WRITING. I say sadly because the magic system and plot are interesting, but the writing style is just terrible. I dont think he uses one pronoun in the book it's always " Mikel swings his sword. Bayle blocks Mikel's sword." Every sentence is very simple and uses the characters name over and over for every action, totally distracting. I wish this guy would read elements of style or something, get a good editor, team up with someone who can actually write, or pitch his ideas to another professional writer.

After reading it, I was left feeling underwhelmed, like the sense of discovery was lacking. You have a very potentially powerful artifact waiting to be discovered and when the scene plays out, you feel like "That's it?" The same for the ending unfortunately. Aside from that, it's a good simple read.
