On the run . . . It’s been four months since the head of the Institute of Supernatural Research was murdered. But that doesn’t mean June Coffin is out of hiding yet. In a world where being different can get you killed, it’s best to keep a low profile. Especially for a Siren who can control other people with the call of her voice. That goes double if your powers might be inexplicably growing…   On the hunt . . . But June isn’t the only one trying to clear her name. There’s Sam, the charismatic paranormal rights leader, and Micha, the first human on record to go paranormal. All of them must bargain with a mysterious vampire named Occam Reed if they want to stay alive.   Out of time . . . As tensions increase between humans and paranormals, June must decide who to trust. If only she could hear the song inside her heart…

Intense By The Romance Reviews Reviewed by LiaLfor TheRomanceReviews.comOur tattooed, foul-mouthed Siren is back with this great follow-up to The Wicked City. Jane is known for many things but patience is not one of them. She is sick of hiding out. They all are tired of waiting to see what vicious attack will be next. Risks will have to be taken to try to combat the hate and violence that is corrupting the city of Chicago and only some of them will survive. You definitely need to read The Wicked City first before diving into the sequel. Megan Morgan has a lot of new experiences for the team and that doesn't leave a lot of time to catch up on the past. It keeps the pace moving fast even when the action is a little slower this time around.Jane is the Siren with lots of attitude. She hasn't changed much in terms of her attitude but is still dealing with the consequences of her injury. She has even given up cigarettes so you know how bad she really is doing physically, and giving up her addiction does not make her any more pleasant to be around. Everyone might be more in danger from an angry, bored Siren than Robbie. Jane is very worried about those she cares about and that worry is a heavy weight. There is more of an intensity about her in this second book than the first. She has really committed to the mission and it seems like she has accepted that she can't go back and resume her old life as a tattoo artist. She definitely tells less jokes than the first time around.Jane along with Sam, Muse and Micha have been hiding out for months waiting to see what to do next in their battle for the city against Robbie and his followers. Sam is a wanted man and Jane feels like she needs to stay and protect him like he did when she was in need. She is still physically involved with Micha but resists when he is referred to as her boyfriend by Sam. Jane and Sam have a pull towards one another but she is also confused by the nature of his relationship with Muse. It definitely falls under the label of "it's complicated". These attractions among the members of the group keep it interesting. This book introduces the Vampires of the city to the story and they are a big part of the action this time around. The author has an interesting view of vampires and they are definitely not the bright, sparkly type. They are arrogant, drug-addicted and smelly for the most part. One of them takes a big interest in Jane and she really didn't want another admirer or complication. The Vampires may be the only group strong enough to take on Robbie but they are pretty self-focused and not interested in being helpful unless it is in their interests. Some of them have interesting abilities and Jane begins to realize just how much of a threat they may be to her and the city. She also gets some revealing information about her future. It is an intense read with lots of surprises and changes. Jane and the gang face complications in their battle to get the city united against Robbie and the Institute. They are forced to turn to a new group for support but that group is perhaps even more dangerous than their current enemies. Feelings intensify and change for one another and that adds a new level of complexity to their situation. It is a great follow-up to the first book and this series is turning out to be a very intriguing read with lots of surprises to come.Disclaimer: A copy of this book is received from the publisher/author in exchange for an honest review.

I was hoping that I’d like this book just as much as the first one, but I loved this just as much, if not more!June and the gang have been in hiding for the last few months, and it isn’t sitting well with any of them. They want to take action, but with them being in hiding, it makes it hard for them to make any kind of move. Soon though things are starting to go too far, and they have no choice but to go to the Vampires to find some way to make an alliance with them. These vampires…. They are NOTHING like what you’ve read in other books. They are disgusting and apparently do drugs in their spare time (I mean, why not, they can’t die). However after putting June and a few others through a few tests (and also giving up Micha as a prize) they vampires form some kind of alliance with Sam and his followers. However, this story is just beginning.June has a few hard decisions she has to make. The question is, will she be able to survive the aftermath her decisions cause? Not only that, she’s caught the eye of a certain vampire and he’s determined to make her his.Talk about twists and turns! This book is full of them! You think you know where the story is going but oh no, Megan Morgan totally spins it in another direction. I loved every second of it though! She keeps you on your toes, and I can’t wait to see how she twists the story in the next book! I’m hoping that June is able to find a HEA, especially with everything she’s had to go through, but with Megan, it seems you’ll never know for sure. Amazon story Megan! I can’t wait to see what you have in store for June!**ARC was provided through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review**

It was rather different. I did find the book to be a tad vulgar and have way to much sex and not enough actual story to it. I would have liked the characters to have had more depth to them. To be more complex and with a little less attitude with more to back it up. Ms. Morgan has a nice smooth writing style she just needs to put more into her characters. I did however like them enough to read more about them. At least one more book to see if there is any character growth.*** Received ARC copy of book from NetGally.com and Kensington Books. ****L.
