Less than one second: how long it takes for everything to change. The story rewritten. The answers lost. The world turned upside down. Eden’s life is in tatters. Too many questions. Too many answers she never would have chosen. With no time to think or mourn, she struggles to take control of her fate once again. There’s one thing that Eden has always wanted— find Oscar. One solution— ask for Matt’s help. So begins a frantic journey with high stakes and savage battles. Buoyed by friendship, hardened by experience, Eden fights her way through endless obstacles with the single goal of reuniting her little family. But does Outpost Three still exist, or have the Sentries destroyed it, along with the last of Eden’s hopes?

It feels like a roller coaster of emotions and action all the time. I read the bundle, 1-3 which is a great way to read this because guarantee you're not going to put this thing down until you've read as far as you can go. For me that was thru book #4 and I can hardly stand the anticipation and wait til #5 is released (suppose to early 2016).I think the thing I admire the most about this author, other than a really great story line is her ability to make you feel you're within the story. She does such a terrific job of explaining the scenes and surroundings, the characters: their thoughts and actions. She has great humor, especially in Apollon: a main character, and best friend to another main character, Eden. His witty and jovial personality along with his endearing friendship to Eden is really great and fun to read. Actually, I'd say Eden is the main character with Apollon and Jason as supporting actors (both are good friends) and there's Matt, too. He's the bad, hard, yet sometimes good overlord of Outpost 3 where they all live.Living together as family is Niveah (mute, motherly one, & healer), Miranda (young, beautiful, brainey, electronics geek), Oscar (8 yo, happy, fun living kid), Jonas (super serious one, has a compulsion to leave and travel south) & Apollon (tall, muscular, blonde, fun loving, jokester). They all live together trying to survive. But it's not easy in this town full of death, slavery, starvation, killing, fear, & every person out for themselves. But it's the sentries, that are the real problem. The robotic chunks of metal that won't let anyone leave. They are the constant enforcers of the 10 Laws handed down by the forefathers. Break any of these rules, spill any blood and you die at the hands of the sentries, even if it's an accident, or if you're the victim, or god forbid, you happen to be in the way.Everything is a guessing game: who are these forefathers, who built these buildings, how could they have built such wonderful things yet, leave them--human beings to such dismal lives? Where are they now? They believe "they" are out there somewhere because they know that if they don't follow the rules they'll be "Erased". That's what happened to Eden, Jonas & Apollon. They all 3 have the mark "E" on their foreheads. After terrible things happen within the outpost, they're ready to do something about what's happening. So, some of them head out to try and do just that. None of them realized the world they'd be encountering, the wonder of it, the surprises & the heartache. But can they stop it? Can they make a difference?Eden/lily has found out some pretty horrific things that have happened to her in her past. She suffers immensely not only from the loss of Oscar but now from others as well. But her primary goal now is to find Oscar. She knows he's out there somewhere and he needs her. She's going back to outpost 3 and getting Matg and Miranda yo help her. She'll text those of her new family and who she trusts with her and Apollon too, of course. Can they make it back there safely or will the obstacles be too many? What will they find at Outpost 3? There is one positive from the trip there: a new love interest.By the end of the book, Eden is more determined than ever!Really great series!Age group: adults only. Bad language (although this was less the case in books 3 & 4), general violence, & killing.Editing: there were some duplicated words, missing words, minor things like that.Cover: I like the simple graphic of the "E" & the color changes from book to book to individualize each book but you know it's part of the series by the graphics. I like that continuity. The "E" is definitely pertinent to the content of the books.Series: book #5 to be released in early 2016Sent from my iPhone

Not To Be Missed By Lupine Smile I would like to thank the author, Kate Wrath, for providing me with an electronic copy of Elegy, in exchange for an honest review.Author Kate Wrath dives right in with this exciting addition to the Eden series and readers will not want to miss a single moment. As Eden and Apollon embark on a journey to help a friend and rediscover old connections, their voyage is fraught with heartache, turmoil, and danger. With some of the original characters, as well as new favorites, Elegy is Eden's glimpse of the past and push towards the future. Surprising allies and shocking foes bring an element of suspense to the plot. I have always been fond of a quest novel, with lots of action to keep the plot moving at a fast pace, and Elegy does not disappoint. The author manages to bring the two parts of Eden's life together, her past and her present, seamlessly and in such a way that makes sense. Elegy proves that life can change in an instant, but it is what you do with the cards that you have been dealt that matters.I strongly recommend reading this series from the beginning, as it is impossible to follow the evolution of Eden's character with the reading of only one book. Her strength and resiliency are admirable, with a maturity that, despite her tender years, is rare. With a shocking twist that I did not see coming, Elegy is a worthwhile read that I definitely recommend.

By Bill Anderson Length: 378 pages.Amazon Kindle Sales Rank when this review was posted: 6,880.The language and dialogue are incredible authentic to the characters and setting. Specifically, this is a dystopian novel that, for me anyway, was often sad, depressing and just a little too dark. But insofar as the writing and editing quality, this is first rate.Beware though, this is an adult language thriller, with a good deal of cussing and an occasional f-bomb. Not excessive, mind you, consider the genre and the characters depicted. As I stated, it was a bit too dark, a bit too depressing, a bit too bloody, but it was probably far more realistic than most other novels in this genre.Of course, a significant part of my challenge with this novel is that I did not first read the three preceding stories. Just as the first reviewer stated, I think it wise to read those three before digging into this one.Note too that there is a follow-on book, but this does not leave us in the lurch. For people looking for a dystopian thriller wherein the heroine overcomes all odds of survival, you're going to love this jewel. For me, though, I can only rate it four stars.
