I said so when I originally wrote this review in 2012 and I still feel that way today; it's certainly true for those who enjoy great "old" sf (though for some of us, it may be a bit unsettling to realize these stories were actually NEW when we first read them as youngsters). In this ML Megapack, the reader gets a lot of imaginative, well-written, highly entertaining yarns by a master storyteller; the book is nicely-formatted, has an active TOC, and is bargain-priced at only $.99.Notice, however, that while the publishing date of this Megapack is November 12, 2015, ten of the reviews for it (with mine making 11) were written three years EARLIER. How can that be? Were we all clairvoyant? No. This first ML Megapack and its companion volume 2 (of 20 additional stories) originally DID appear in 2012 but were soon removed by Wildside (publisher of the Megapacks) in the U.S. for copyright reasons. That first version contained 30 stories, five more than in the current edition. Will those 5 (listed below) appear in the Second ML Megapack? Or do they still have copyright issues? Will "The Wailing Asteroid" (my favorite) also appear in v.2 as it originally did? Only time will tell, but for now it's great to see this reincarnated bundle of 25 fabulous Murray Leinster tales available for all fans of classic sf.These stories have provided me many hours of pleasurable reading in the past, and I'm sure others like me, who have previously read them, will greatly enjoy this opportunity to re-discover and re-read them. But first-time readers for whom these are all "new" will be in for a special treat. Yes, the "science" (such as it is) might be outdated and at times laughable, the conflicts between humans and aliens might suspiciously echo cold-war tensions, and admittedly the future depicted in them was hardly prophetic, but that's all part of the fun. Just settle back, go with the flow, and let these escapist tales entertain you for an hour or two.For the curious, these are the 5 omitted stories: "Second Landing" (1954), "White Spot" (1955), "Sand Doom" (1955), "The Pirates of Ersatz" (1959), and "A Matter of Importance" (1959). TOC issues raised in some of the old reviews no longer pertain to this edition.

Howard This is an excellent value for anyone interested in the early days of science fiction. As a child of the 50's & 60's I fed my love of Sci-Fi by devouring works by my "heroes" of the day, & Murray Leinster was in my pantheon of favorites that also included C.M Kornbluth, Robert A. Heinlein, E.E. "Doc" Smith, Andre Norton, A.E. Van Vogt, Isaac Asimov, and many others.NOTE: One of the previous reviewers is mistaken: the Table Of Contents --with active links-- is at the end of the collection, just as with so many other ebooks these days. In this instance I don't find that very valuable the first time through because the stories are in chronological order of publication, and that's how I wanted to step through them. When I return for the occasional later reading, I'm sure I'll use the TOC to jump to a few of my favorites.

It is one of the things that makes e-readers, like the Kindle, completely worth owning.I purchased this without really being familiar with Murray Leinster, but definitely being a fan of Golden Age Sci-Fi. I cannot express the absolute joy I feel picking through these stories (I'm not a chronological person, I'm a wanderer) and reliving a time which seems so vibrant in its anticipation of the future.Leinster is one of the fairly consistent excellent pulp style writers who creates real characters and places them in imaginative situations. A considerable number of writers of the pulp sci-fi era hae been largely forgotten because the stories are routine and boring. The best writers were those who created fresh ideas and challenging plots. There is a reason writers like Howard, Bradbury, Asimov and Heinlein had such staying power after the pulp era ended. I wouldn't put Leinster in that legendary category but just below, where the stories are just plain fun. Thanks to whoever put this collection together. Good selection, good TOC.
